Firefox does not check cookies for info
Using v1.5.0.4.
I have to log in to every board every time. This is a new problem. Cannot download files. Receive a message about source directory not found or readable. Edit: Some sites are telling me I need to have java enabled. I do have java enabled. I have reinstalled a few versions. No change. Have deleated a file that "Googleing" found (a Mozilla file). Removed a recent extension. Have not tried removing all extensions. Read a page dealing with extension problems. IE is not having these problems. Anyone deal with this before? I don't have that problem. All three browsers utilize that function just fine. I am using that version of FireFox, too. Not sure what to tell ya otherwise, though.

Have you tried deleting your cookies and trying again ?
It sounds to me like a cookie just refuses to get overwritten. Delete it, and make a new one, and it should be fine. if not, then the permissions to your registry or Cookies folder may have been modified to make it read only, which would be nigh impossible unless you or someone else were poking around where you shouldn't be. |

Thanks for the bump :-)
This is very annoying. I'm having to use IE because some java things are not working. Every board has me login. Rapidshare and Megaupload will not work. I should remove all extensions and see if that helps but I'm reluctant to do so. |

go to Control Panel>Java>Advanced>
expand "applet tag support" confirm there is a tick in both IE and Firefox... this may be the cause of your java problem

(On Windows, I use Crap Cleaner to run on startup and throw out all cookies, except for the domains I specify through Crap Cleaner. I find it works cleaner that the Firefox cookie management system.)

dnd, you've hig something there!
Firefox was not checked. When I check it XP tells me to make sure Firefox is correctly installed and that I have permission to change it. Permission I have so I think I'll have to completely remove Firefox from the system - hoping that all registry settings get removed. Redlemon, privacy & security setting seem ok. I've looked into cookie settings. Also have started FF in safe mode so that extensions are disabled. No help there. souzafone, cache has been cleared a few times :-) Edit: Removing FF is not so easy. Uninstall did not delete any files! html files still have the FF icon. Deleted the Moszilla FF tree from Program files dir. Reinstalled FF. Same problems. Can't change the statis of java. Can someone help me find the registry key for this? I could try that in safe mode. Might help. Last edited by flat5; 06-21-2006 at 09:21 AM.. |

I can not get the system to allow the check in the Firefox box. A message says FF may be inproperly installed or I may not have the rights to change this property. Any way I log on does not help, even in safe mode. FF has been re-installed a few times. I could use some help please :-) |
