Laptop Troubles
I'm having some hardware problems with my laptop. It has to be hardware because I got the blue screen of death while re-installing windows after formatting the hard drive. Here is the computer I have:
Dell Inspiron 5100 Windows XP 30 GB hard drive ATI Radeon 7500c 32Mb 512 Mb RAM So here whats been going on. I've recently been getting the bsod periodically, sometimes while running programs, sometimes while its just sitting there, and this past weekend I actually had problems booting up(the boot process would freeze, then after a couple of restarts it said windows had a corrupt file). I at first thought it was just a virus problem due to my having downloaded a couple of questionable files(stupid, I know), but now that I've gotten the bsod while trying to install windows after formatting, I'm thinking its a hardware issue. The specific error it is giving is a KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR. I have a couple of ideas of what I think it could be, but I'm not certain which is why I'm asking you all. First, I think it could be one of my ram cards(or both) have gone bad for whatever reason. Second, I think it could be heat dmg to any number of components, I've been running Guild Wars(min. req. 64 Mb graphic card) on this computer and I've noticed that its been running somewhat hotter than usual and that the fan turns on full speed and stays on. Or it could be something else that I have no clue about. So any ideas or help is greatly appreciated.
