ViVo card woes
I used to use a Radeon 9000 64mb ViVo as my gfx card, mainly because one needs a gfx card, and I also needed the capturing feature. It worked well, but try and play games with that. Nuh uh.
So, Wallyworld had a nice deal so I went and got a GeForce FX5500, and I've to admit it's nice. Very nice. However, herein lies the problem. When I purchased the FX5500, I figured I wasn't going to need the vivo features of the Radeon card anymore. Turns out, I was wrong. Both the Radeon and the FX use the AGP slot, so here's what I want to do, but after spending hours on Google I still can't find what I am looking for... I need a ViVo card, which * is PCI, not AGP or PCI-Express * has at least 64 DDR MB VRAM * must support both NTSC and PAL streams * has hardware-based encoding * has a composite (RCA) video-in port * is within the 1-120 dollar price range I've had enormous trouble with SVHS, so I prefer composite. PAL has to be supported because I do a LOT of capturing from PAL sources and authoring the material into NTSC. However, ViVo cards can be extremely tricky. There are great differences in how they perform. The Radeon 9000 I had, ( and just had to put back in the AGP slot and put the FX5500 on the shelf >.< ) performed really well, only wish I could find that or an upgrade for the PCI. Alas, everything seems to be for PCI-E or AGP nowadays. I want a good cheap-o ViVo for the PCI so that the FX5500 can sit in the AGP slot. I originally paid $80 for the Radeon, so I am not looking to spend a lot on yet another ViVo card... Especially since I don't need it to be cutting edge. Anyways if anyone comes across or knows of a card that has specs like these, please let me know.

Newegg.com has lots of video capture cards that will capture video tune in tv channels have a video in and out and some even have a remote control if you want that kinda lazy. |
