Questions about dsl
Ok, so an hour or two ago, I went to open up my computer's case so I could check the ram and see what kind I had. Anyway, as I was disconnecting the cables so I could drag the case out to lay it down and open it up, I noticed that I was unable to remove the dsl cable from the back of the case. But the cable was long enough that I could still lay down the tower and open it up, but then as I was looking around, I noticed that there was a little gray metal box behind the port where the dsl cable was hooked in. Now, this isn't really a problem for me installing ram because I could easily do that myself in less than a minute, but for something a little more advanced (such as video card installation or something else), it might be a problem in regards to transporting the tower to a different place. Anyone else having issues getting their dsl cables unhooked, and if so, any idea as to what I can do when the time comes to move the computer?

Hmm... it should be connected to the PC with a regular RJ11 connector if it's an internal DSL modem or through an RJ45 connector if it's an external ADSL router.. either way it shouldn't be a problem to disconnect the cable, simply press down on the little tab at the top and pull outwards...

Bloddy hell, what is it with computers? That looking over something glaringly obvious can really complicate things. Anyway, I took your advice MrFlux and found the little tab, which was covered up by a little bit of rubber which threw me off at first, but I got it disconnected/reconnected with no problems. Thanks for the tip man.

Totally off topic, but Boddyhammer86, you're in Mattoon?? My mom and uncle live in Mattoon. I have another aunt and uncle in Charleston. What is your ISP and what do you pay? I'm trying to talk my mom into DSL. She's on dia-up. Ugh.

Wyodiver33, my internet provider is Consolidated Communications here in Mattoon. My dad finally got dsl when he saw their phone/digital tv cable/dsl package and signed up for it a few months ago at slightly over $100 a month total. I gotta say, after having DSL for this long, I could never go back to dial-up. Hope that you helps you.
