Vlog advice? - Tilted Forum Project Discussion Community

I'm making some short movies and am interested in putting them on the net through a vlog/video blog. I'd just like some ideas on how to get started.

I'm a 1998-model Internet user -- I can do a web page, ftp, email, listservs, etc., and I do know how to edit video on a computer and do basic graphics and output to QT. I don't know a lot about the various types of media transmission services the Internet now suports.

So:

1. Any good hosting sites to recommend? Anybody know anything about YouTube? I'd be willing to pay something.

2. Any compression hints, or links to places that'd tell me, an iMovie user, how best to proceed?

3. What about RSS? Is that anything to get involved in? I don't know much about it as I don't take advantage of it myself. Do people use a special app to gather RSS stuff, or do regular browsers/players handle it? I'd probably be producing about one video a month once I get started (first one's nearly in the can).

4. What are good ways to spread the word -- places to plug my site/movies where that sort of thing is allowable?

Any experiences anybody has to share? I'd appreciate it.
