System beeps, need help!
*Edit* Thanks for all the help guys. For some reason when I was using my computer tonight its been fine... I have no idea why it solved itself but it apears to be functioning normaly now *Edit*
Okay so 2 nights ago the power went out in our city not once but twice! The first time the power went out my computer was on and I was not at home, when I arrived at home my computer had just reset itself and was on the login screen. Worked just fine. Then about 4 hours after that the power went out again on our grid and I was using the computer at the time. I waited about half an hour before turning my computer back on and using it again. Seemed to be running fine... But then whenever I ran anything that takes any memory (Anything more than basic internet browser or MSN) I would get these nasty system beeps that are spaced about every second apart. I actually first noticed the system beeps when I was asleep and my virus software did its auto-run at about 4 in the morning. The system beeps woke me up and I just shut my computer off, in the morning when I turned my computer on it started up normaly, no problems. But after I was logged on and tried to run anything the system beeps starting again. I have the Logitech g15 keyboard and it has an LCD screen which can display my CPU usage and it is running VERY high when I load anything. To even open an msn window or google it spikes to about 40% and stays there, to import a cd or run spybot or my virus checker it jumps to 100% and the beeps start, I have noticed that the beeps actually start when it reaches about 75% and this has never happened before. Currently while I am typing this it is running at around 17%. Now about that power outtage, I have my computer running throught a power bar that is surge protected so am not sure what happened. I checked all my fans and they apear to be running fine. If any of you have any idea what is up it would be much apreciated! I called the guy who made my computer to see if he knew anything but I think he is out of town as he has not called be back yet. Thank you so much. |
Oh yes, and if that is a little garbled I appologise as I was out till all hours of the night yesterday at a pretty crazy metal show. So I am still a little woozy and might not be making the most sense.

Maybe it's borked your RAM?
Could try running MemtestX86 and see how that goes? |
I would guess, overheating. Chacnes are a fan is not running, probably on your power supply. The beep is being generated as a warning by the motherboard. If you find the fan on the power supply not working, you probably need to replace the power supply (pretty cheap).
