Mouse Recommendation????

I desperatly need a new mouse! I have a Logitech 518 and I would love it if it worked all time. The drivers are constantly breaking or getting lost. It is now beyond frustrating when my mouse only functions properly surfing the web but not in Windows or vice versa. I love the funcationality of the buttons (especially the scrolling buttons) and I am looking for something comparable. Can anyone suggest something they use and like? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

what do you mean that the drivers are "breaking or getting lost"? This shouldn't be happening if you computer is working properly.

I really like the logitech line of mices. Don't know what else to recommend except maybe microsoft.

But I would look into your problem first. That is not normal.

i second the Micro$oft intelli explorer...

had it for years, works with windows and mac seemlessly...and is just generally easy to use. something i never usually say about a MS product, btw.

I have been using the Microsoft Trackball Explorer. I find it excellent. In addition, I have had no problems with my hands and wrists since I started using it. It's worth a look.

The logitech marble mouse has been rock solid for me. That is about the only thing I haven't had trouble with.

Very funny Daniel_

I currently have the Logitech MX1000 and I would never even consider having another mouse, it is amazing. It is a little on the pricey side as on sale in Canada is still costs about 80 bucks. But for me it is worth every penny.

I wish I could explain it a little better but this is what happens sometimes: All of a sudden my mouse speed will be cut in half (like I am dragging it through molasses) but it works fine on anything outside of Windows (Firefox, PowerDVD, etc.). Also buttons just stop working. I have tried uninstalling the drivers/program (erasing everything from my system reg. and all) and reinstalling it but to no avail. Apparently this is quite common if you happen across teh Logitech Support Boards. My computer is nowhere near state-of-the-art but otherwise it works fine. I had a MS mouse before this one and so I guess I will go back to that. Thanks for all the reponses and suggestions!

i have a microsoft laser wireless mouse, i love the software and hardware, it has four way scrolling, left, right, up, down.... the scroll wheel is super smooth, no clicks in the wheel.... theres a zoom button that can be programed for many uses, such as copy and paste, zoom, and a slow-mo mode that slows down the mouse for more acuaracy... the desktop version has more buttons... the zoom feature with it is pretty cool actually... i fully recommend it

I like the new laser mice - all I have to do now is see if I can get someone else to stump up for one...

I have a 518 corded and a G7 Cordless Laser. I love the G7. Battery life is a little short, but it comes with two hot-swappable batteries and while using one battery the other one is in the cradle charging.

i use a mx518 and it has always worked flawlessly. in the past i have had a couple microsoft mice and while they are nice at first they both ended up having click sensitivity problems. like the spring under the buttons got so weak it would double or triple click when i click once. if your having problems with it cutting out and not working because of drivers its a computer software problem. this is my second logitech mouse and the first one worked flawless for years and i only stopped using that to upgrade to a optical mouse.

Have you tried uninstalling your drivers and letting windows autodetect it and using the normal windows mouse drivers? or maybe going from a ps2 to a usb connection or vice versa?

If you dont have trackball's, then I would suggest the microsoft optical trackball, its especially nice if you dont have a ton of desktop space to move the mouse around.
