quicktime movies without quicktime
Is there any way to watch quicktime movies without installing quicktime? I hate quicktime, but it's becoming more inescapable by the day...
|
nope you can find some players that will play old quicktime files but not the newer versions. unless you are on linux.
|
Not a lot of options in windows. There may be a program that can simply use the plugins. Give MoviX a try. It will boot up, and let you play quicktime files off your hard drive, or cd, if you download the codec package.

not the best solution (what about QT bothers you? the nag?) try VideoLAN Client you can get a full feature list off this link.

i had lots of problems with quicktime too... so i did this:
one, completely uninstall that bitch. kill ever last piece of evidence that it was ever there. two, download the install programme and get ready to rock. three, begin your download, but don't let that fucking program do anything automatically. every chance you get to enter in information and/or tell it how to download, take it. you want quicktime for one purpose only... to download and watch .mov and .qt files. DO NOT let it take any other file associations. it will, too... so many people have this problem, so you have to watch that thing like an autistic kid in an arsenal. finally, your download should be complete. do teh necessary startup things, but NEVER EVER let it "automatically associate files" unelss they are .mov or .qt. that's all you need, right? enjoy. |
OK this is stupid. I DLed QT, but the file association screen only has 3 choices: Windows, Mac, and Internet file types. This is stupid, I only want it to open .qt and .mov files but it's opening .pict's and .aiff's
