Whisky Bottle PC Mod
Saw this on Fark this morning:
http://www.metku.net/index.html?sect...kypc/index_eng I won't bother with posting the text that goes with it, as the pictures more than adequetly tell you everything that you need to know: http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...The_victim.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...r_cutting1.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3..._assembly3.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3..._Finished1.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...4_Working1.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...6_Working3.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...d_cooling1.jpg :) |
One of the more interesting mods I've ever seen. My only thought is the bottle is more insulating than a regular computer case, so overheating must be an issue here. However since it's so small, perhaps the bottle could be dropped inside something else to keep it cool, a bar fridge perhaps?
That's probably why the lid is off while they are running it...
Besides the Millenium Falcon X-Box, this has to be the cleverest Mod I've ever seen. The image of an open whiskey bottle on the desk next to the keyboard and monitor is priceless.
That is way cool. Puts my bottle of Jack filled with sand from Monterey to shame.
That's one hell of a small form factor mobo. There's not a lot of bells and whistles there. He's sure not running SLI
Only the best for that PC ;)
It's a laptop motherboard and hardware. Very cool.
That's a really neat mod - though I agree with the "it'll overheat pretty quick" comment. Still, it'd give me something to do with the dozen or so bottles of Jack lining my bookshelf ;)
i dont think it will have that much of an over heating problem...
air goes in the hole with the fan and out the open mouth of the bottle... and he's using an older p3 733 not exactly a hot processor ok on the last page he said he did at first... but he put a few small holes around the plugs on the mobo and a fan in the hole and now no problem |
That's a good one after all the humidors & kitchen appliances. Functional controller boards are getting pretty small. Kontron has a nice little 3.5" Windows board that will run a 1.8GHz Pentium M, with video, usb, enet, even a built-in Type-1 CF socket, for about 40W total in a 10x15cm space.
Look around the house. If you can fit a 3.5" drive inside, it can be a computer. |
I never thought a PC would bring me to tears...
Real men of genius.... Mr. Gonna-build-a-computer-in-a-whiskey-bottle Guy! |
