jammed ipod hold button
i have a 20gb, 3rd generation ipod. about 2 weeks ago the bugger fell off my table, and a couple of days later, when i tried to turn it on, i noticed that it didnt want to wake up. when i plug it into my computer, it takes new information from my iTunes, but says that the hold button is on 'lock', even when it isnt.
when i unplug the ipod from the computer, it stays on for its ritual 3 minutes and then shuts off, while i the idiot am begging and pleading it to unlock, by excruciating force of the finger. does anyone have a suggestion what i could do? would taking out the battery maybe reset its unforgiving memory? are there stores that deal with such a problem? much thanks in advance. |

Could be the cable that connects the hold button to the mainboard is detached. I am assuming it's out of warantee anyway, so I'd say take it apart and see what you can see.
Here is a link detailing how to change the hard drive in a 4G, but taking the case apart should be similar. http://www.notpopular.com/blog/comments.php?blogID=63
