Internet Explorer 7
any loyalists to the old realm try IE7 yet? does anyone even care about IE anymore?
beta version 2 is available, but i think it uninstalls IE6. for this reason, i have not tried to new version, but i'm interested to see if any of you have. (not that i'm going to stop using FF.) they have included tabs and RSS, as well as the usual security/browsing upgrades. it looks kind of buggy though. a few links of interest: http://www.vnunet.com/itweek/news/21...ie-goes-public http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/default.aspx http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.mspx Quote:

I'm trying it out right now since I'm one of those people who reinstalls Windows every six months or so for the hell of it, and I'm not too far off from my next reinstall. So far the main thing is that it is a lot closer to Firefox, much less cluttered interface, more screen available for the webpage. It is nice to be able to middle click and open a page in a new tab like Firefox.

I have tried and like the IE7 Beta 2 Preview. I think they have done a good job in redesigning the interface to match that of more popular browsers. Although I think that the installable modules are a good and bad idea. Think about how many people will be calling microsoft after they install something and cannot figure out how to uninstall the extension or turn it off. I believe there really should be a browser for the computer knowledge impaired.

i'm running to download it, if worse comes to worse i have firefox, i removed all icons and links to IE on my work computer and moved totally to firefox, but at home i stayed on IE since i like my links button, i have the links bar as a dropdown with my 6 sites i check daily for email and forums... if firefox had that, i would be a total firefox user.... i'll post back after i download IE7

i'm having a hell of a time trying to customize it, the search in the tool bar doesnt go away, it sucks and takes up too much room, it's three rows tall, refuses to let me move stuff even with the lock off....
I cant slide my links bar to the right soo it will be a dropdown, infact its not letting me move it at all..... the top row has just back, foward, address bar, refresh, stop, and search in that order, no file menu... 2nd row is my few links, third row is like three buttons for home , print, and tools... . i want to move all 3 rows into one, and trash half the buttons... arge! and this is without tabbed browsing turned on...

I have been using it for a few weeks now. Definately has some quirky things such as missing text and wierd formatting issues. I do like the tab feature but still tend to use Firefox more than IE. If they iron out the bugs this could be a pretty solid browser.

When it comes out of beta testing I might actually try it.
