unresponsive mouse and keyboard during windows installation

NOTE: My problem is not with FFXI, it is with an unresponsive mouse and keyboard during a windows installation.

Ok, so I got Final Fantasy XI yesterday and went through the long registration and installation process. I had to do a patch, but when it was checking my files it got stuck at 100, so I excited out of it. There was nothing I could do, the cancel button would not work.

I tried to run it again, but now it says my FFXI files are messed up and I have to reinstall the game. At this point im a little pissed. I uninstall it and then I get ready to reinstall it and it says that I have to have Playonline installed. Now im officially pissed. Well, I uninstall Playonline and decide I need to reboot.

Windows does not boot.

Needless to say I had to repair my installation of windows because somehow some of my .dll files got corrupted or deleted, most likely in the uninstallation.

So, I am repairing windows and everything is looking ok. It tells me to reboot, I do it. When it gets back to the installation it asks me something that looks like this: "Please find the file on the Windows service pack 2 disc." It then shows me the location of where it is supposed to be: globalroot\device\cdromo\1386

All I have to do is click ok, but my mouse and keyboard are unresponsive. My F lock light is on, but my caps lock light and num lock light will not come on. There is no mouse pointer on the screen. I tried unplugging and plugging them back in. Both are USB, so I tried an older mouse and keyboard that used the green and purple plugins. I think all I need to do is click ok, because the window xp disc with service pack 2 is already in the fucking computer, I just can't click ok lol.

I would appreciate any help possible.

Thanks in advance

The only thing I can think is that your device drivers for your USB keyboard and mouse are corrupted. Are they wireless?

Have you tried recommunicating your mouse, keyboard and charger by pushing the little connect buttons under the keyboard and on the charger (if you have a charger)?

My mouse and keyboard are not wireless. I looked and looked on the internet and I could find nothing. I installed a second windows on my computer so I was still able to gain access to my harddrive and so I just started copying all the files I really needed and then wiped the harddrive.

You guys can't say you didn't try, thanks.

Have you check the BIOs that the USB devices are enabled? Try just the PS-2 keyboard only, you should be able to use the TAB key to advance to the OK button. If that doesn't work then I'll have to put on my thinking cap....

Trust me, they were enabled. It just shut off during the repair installation. Whenever I wiped everything and I reinstalled windows, the mouse and keyboard responded fine. I couldn't really find anything helpful.
