About that... by contribution we mean that you participate in the forums so that next time I see your name I actually recognize it.

Then somebody has taken notice of you and your behaviour and checks your posting habits, like, are you a cool guy/gal and that you've really posted replies or maybe even your own threads. (This is because some people were just posting almost empty posts into testing board to increase the postcount).

Most likely, a nice mod/admin will see that 'Oh, this guy/gal is a really cool guy (although I disagree with him in the POLITICS forum) so lemme just push this nice little button here...'.

and *pof*, you suddenly see the EZ again.

(PS. I took the short route. I take care of the servers on the OS side, in the same way I used to handle a few server farms. Very professionally. I made myself useful from the first minute. I contributed. I can see the EZ. See a pattern emerging here?)

Now about the money. Yes, the bandwith is expensive in the US. I personally think it's robbery to ask money from VOLUME. When I was in the ISP business, we charged 300€/month. That got you 4U's of space, 100FD uplink, your own /29, ups power and air conditioning. We bloody didn't care if somebody was using 100/100 24/7/365. It was their business and they paid for it. (Nowdays the price is 150€/month and the link is 10/10.)

Then the server had to go back to U.S and the bandwith is now charged by Volume. Ridicilous, robbery and bad business practices. We here in the old continent stopped charging for volume back in '96.[/rant]

We have many members here, including mods, who were in this same boat not too long ago. They stepped up and started posting and got to like it. What's upsetting to us is that there are tons of people who never posted anything, and are lashing out at us because they feel we've cheated them. If the board was slow due to a large amount of people who actually did post, we wouldn't mind it, but when it's slowed due to people who never contribute any sort of discussion here, it gets annoying. Why should members who add to the discussion here be penalized with a slower running site because someone who uses the site for a cheap porn fix doesn't want to add anything? All we want is some reciprocation here. You get a place where you can discuss almost anything, with the only cost to you being an occasion thought or two in some part of the forum outside of the Erogenous Zone. I don't think that's as horrible a trade-off as many are making it out to be.

sux that the titty board is gone, but life goes on. Halx, this is a great board, one of the few forums that i can actually find more than 2 people who have something smart to say on topics ranging from presidential debates to whether Fable is worth renting/buying.

I guess I have never met someone who doens't have an opinion/feeling/thought on anything. Have you seen a movie recently? or Think you know who is going to win this week? or Do you live somewhere on Earth? or Can you count? The only place on this board that you have a potential of someone disagreeing forcefully is in the politics forum. Don't tell me there is nothing other thans tits on this board that you are interested in.

Seriously guys. This is a collection of forums with a HUGE range of topics. If one were to sit down once a day and read new posts in each forum, it would take hours. I spend at least an hour a day on the forums as it is, and I typically hit just a handful of forums... hardly even scratching the surface of the content and discussion available.

And yet, out of all the wealth of valuble information on these forums, the only thing that appeals to some of you (I believe you're tagged "Losers" now?) is "omfg teh pr0n is gone!!!11 lolololol!"

If these boards were here just for your benefit to leech porn and not contribute to meaningful conversation, it would be a porn site. But it's not, now is it? It's a forum project, with the ultimate goal being "the evolution of humanity, sexuality, and philosophy." For those of you not contributing to those evolutionary processes, the boards are better off without your bandwidth hogging. Furthermore, for all the time you spent bitching about how all the porn's gone, you could have found about 100x more porn, updated daily, than is posted in the EZ.

In conclusion, get a life, you ungrateful bastards, or start contributing and become an active member of the community. Either one would be great, IMO.

The EZ is open to contributors. Contributions come in many forms. Donations do not equal "full membership" (i.e. access to ALL forums).

It has simply been removed from the access of "rookies". "Rookies" are those of you with such limited (or no) participation that you have not been upgraded to full members.

Note that I said PARTICIPATION.

All you need to do is post your thoughts, your feelings, concerns, doubts, or generic ruminations on life, love, or... whatever. THAT is what the TFP is all about. The TFP may have porn, but the TFP is a community. We are a community of thinkers, talkers, listeners, friends, lovers- and people who can never agree on anything, debate with tenacity on a constant basis, but who have a common love for this space, and a mutual respect for one another, regardless of their personal beliefs.

THAT is the TFP.

If you are too short-sighted or closed-minded to understand and accept how such a thing could exist, maintain, and even flourish... then perhaps this place is simply not for you. If that's the case, we don't need to hear you curse it on your way out the door. Be civil, won't you?
