I gotta say, this thread is the most fun I've had on TFP in awhile. Of course, I'm loser lurker rookie, too. I mostly participate in the IRC channel, but I try to post a movie review in the Entertainment forum now and then. Once the NBA season gets into full swing I'm sure I'll post in the Sports forum more often.

I admint it.. I lok at the EZ. I have only posted minimaly as I am loathe to do so unless seriously motivated. I think the only true posts I have made were in the gaming section and I enjoyed that topic immensely. I am a Sys Admin for a Telephone Company / Internet Service Provider and I know that Halx isn't lying about costs. Bandwidth of the type he is using is mucho expensive. Server upgrades too are very taxing I assume he is using something clustered and when he says upgrade he isn't talking about just dropping a new stick of ram.. he means he is adding an entire box to the hive mind. Drop him some slack and drop him some cash or just drop off the face of the project. Meanwhile.. he controls the horizontal and the vertical quit yer bitching.

Halx - Maybe you should ask Drew at Fark to remove you from his top boobies section. Being the primo site listed there kinda marks you as a pr0n site to the rest of the world... sort of lets you know where the pre-supposition of your site's true nature comes from eh?

Wow, I had to reread this a few times for it to sink in. If i'm not mistaken, attitudes like this is why that section got pulled. I came here for the EZ initially, but then I started browsing all the other sections and am I glad I did. I come here every day. Granted, I don't post as much as other people, but the community here is amazing. I'm not gonna lie, I visited the Links Board and the Titty Board frequently, but just because they're down doesn't mean I'm going to stop visiting. I haven't donated either, but it's not because I don't appreciate the atmosphere here, it's great. I'm on an extremely tight budget, but I do try to contribute with my posts. Not so much recently because of school and work and not having much free time at all. I'm not sure what my point was here, but the least people could do is contribute to the forums, instead of just coming here, looking at all the free pics on the Titty Board, and then complaining when it's gone. That's my opinion, it may be completely off, take it as you may.

Back in my day(all the way back in sep 03), rookies weren't allowed in the EZ. You had to earn that shit, and in doing so you hopefully learned that it was probably the least stimulating part of the tfp. Cry me a fucking river.

I too came in looking for porn, but I now spend over and hour a day conversing elsewhere. This forum has soooo much to offer, if you guys would give it a chance.

As a "lurker" (note, few... alright: no real posts to speak of) I can say with certainty that I should have no say whatsoever in how this forum is run. I've read my share of topic both in and out of the EZ and liked everything I read. Two things I have to add to this is:

1) I have resolved to become involved in this community as I am here enough to post my own ideas (this isn't really bragging or kissing ass, I just want to feel better about myself with the whole self labeling "lurker" thing i did.)
2) I am awesome at counting

There really shouldn't be any bitching or moaning about the EZ being gone, I'll still come here without it (as will many, many others, i imagine)

i'm a newb but im here to stay regardless... it's only recently i've realized just how useful the main part of this site is. if you put in just about any topic or word in the search here, you're bound to dig up all kinds of inspiration and advice. and on the off chance you don't, you can start your own thread and get the same from the responses that are bound to flood in from the many members who respond. just try it next time you come up with something you're curious about or when you have to make a decision about something. on the flip side of that coin, you can feel great by actually giving inspiration or advice to people who ask ?'s about things that you know a thing or two about (hope you get a chance to try that toi place hal)... so keep up the great work and let the lotion heads go screw themselves*literally* somewhere else. thank you so much for this place of accelerated evolution.

On a serious note guys, although I havent been a member very long I have noted the professionalism & dedication shown in the running of TFP. The many of you that make use of the passes that I & others supply via the Links thread should perhaps think about donating what it would have normally cost you to enter just one of these sites. Basically. if you donate enough for the necessary upgrades the cost of entering just one site will give you access to the hundreds of passes that are posted every week. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Something for the Admin's to ponder.

Ok you showed us that you are the boss and that you can do whatever you want with this board - it's yours , it's your right.These guys only are irritate becouse of the fact that their favourite board on this site is gone for some reason they don't care of.Ok i understand you don't care too , but think about that :
These people are maybe 1/3 of the members who visit your site EVERY DAY.These could say are loyal enough to worth something.Every day look for at least 10 posts in all the boards of the EZ.

My suggestion:
If i had that much people comming everyday to my site i would insert adverts in every post and every forum and make these people click on them and earn money for me.There are lots of refferal programs and i think that one click is not a problem for these horny dogs :)
In 2 words: insert adver banner and oblige the visitors of these board to click on them.There are 100's kinds to make the clicking obliged.

I think this is a good way to have the EZ back and have money for running the site.Well...after all it's your call ,but i liked the EZ and i would like to help it back.

Halx: I totally agree with you ; I love the TFP ! I mainly visit the humor section, but I like the diversity of the forums very much, and I want to thank you for your time and efforts ! Thumbs ups !

dioxin: If you'll notice, there are no advertisements on TFP. Why? Because they're EVERYWHERE ELSE on the internet. This is yet another one of the things setting TFP apart from the rest of the net. A free, civil place to meet and discuss - these are things that the TFP is about. Porn is not. 1/3 of users, 2/3 of users, whatever. The porn is not the purpose, and those who are here for only porn and contribute nowhere else on the site and/or contribute nothing to help the site run will, ultimately, not be missed if they leave. Thanks for the suggestion, and if the porn meant anything in the grand scheme of things, perhaps it would be considered, but it doesn't. In fact, I would venture to say that the majority of our top contributors could care less if the EZ were to be removed for everyone and permanently. Of course, this is not necessary because removing it strictly to contributors of relatively little to no posts elsewhere on the board and also of no money is sufficient in restoring decent access for those people who put their own personalities on the board with 100s and sometimes 1000s of posts OUTSIDE of the EZ.

A little anecdote: When I first found TFP, no registration whatsoever was required. One could view the forums without registering and even post to the forums without doing so. Then, I'm assuming for reasons much like this one, Halx chose to get rid of guest posting and guest access to the forums. I didn't complain about this at all. I simply became a registered user and began looking around to see what else TFP had to offer. Back then it was, admittedly, not relatively all that much. I think there were only 2 or 3 non-porn forums. BUT, while TFP may have not had a broad number of forums then, it had the same high-quality people and discussions as it does now. All it took was 2 or 3 non-porn forums to hook me in and make the porn only a secondary thing to me on this site. Now, instead of 2 or 3, you have over 30. If you can't find in those forums that the porn is not what the TFP is about, then the TFP is not for you.

I've probably made about 10-25 posts so I can't talk from a post-contributing standpoint. I like the community here but I run my own board, and post on other boards too. But I did make a donation over a year ago, and I would definitely donate cash again.

When the porn was pulled the first time I was pissed, but running this kind of board has got to be mad stressful. If there are 100 fucking people on at a time and nobody's donating, that's messed up. This site is dependable, the titty board is pretty f-ing sweet, and the owner shouldn't be expected to do all of this for everybody out of his pocket. Word. If you're reading this and haven't donated, donate something and maybe the board will come back.

Ok, lurker here that now feels like the scum of the earth.

I don't know if the code would allow this but I think it would be resonable and help out if there was a personal bandwidth limit daily, or how ever you wanted to divide it up.

I personally am on a 28.8 connection, so I am severly limited by what I can download, maybe 3 or 4 megs a day. Someone with a T1 can easily eat up hundreds of megs a day, and never post a thing.

A person that for the most part just converses back and forth would never reach their limit and users with a certain number of post could be given limit free access.

Another option would just be a plain mandatory donation for EZ access. If every one of those 33,000 people that have less than 10 posts donated just $.25 through paypal, you'd have over $7,500. I'm sure that some would donate more. Why Im sure you dont want to run a pay for porn site, it would pay some of the bills.

Just a few suggestions.

This is unfortunate. A completely understandable situation has been pushed to the point where Admins are gettin ugly. Can't people relax now, hell I know having such an addictive, quality resource being cut can make you desperate but hell, there are enough porn sites out there to tide a person over. This debate is changing TFP from a commonwealth into a monarchy.
