Message and Reply boxes are narrow when viewed with FireFox
okay. I'm viewing the TFP with firefox 0.9.1 (newest build). Almost all main body texboxes, including New PM, Quickreply PM, New Thread, Thread New Reply, and Thread Quickreply are coming up narrower than they display in Internet Explorer. Example:
Internet Explorer: Firefox: New Journal Entry and Quickedit textboxes come up at the same widths that i'm used to them coming up, it's only the specific textboxes mentioned above. I've checked other sites like Fark and a few other Boards, but haven't seen the same issue, so I'm assuming the problem is TFP specific. If this issue, whatever it is, could be rectified, it'll make replying and contributing easier for everyone using secure, crapware-resistant browsers.

it has to do with mozilla's interpretation of style sheets.
When you specify the column width of a textarea, MSIE will display that width in unispaced font units. Firefox/mozilla will display the width in the standard space width of whatever font the style sheets have set for the specific text area. I know that may not make sense to you.. but it just does.

the question then becomes, why am i experienceing this here at the TFP and not on other bulletin boards, forums, or webpages? is there anything that can be adjusted here so that this problem isn't experienced anymore?

to that I say.. where's the problem?
seriously.. it is what it is.. the code is the default configuration for the vbulletin software so I doubt this is the only board running v2 that has this

Thanks for bringing that up, phred. I thought it was Firefox the whole time! But Hal just explained it's all the vB version 2 boards that experience this. So it's all cool. At least the words don't trail off the text box onto a side you can't see; they automatically word wrap. But, yeah, I get you. Just doesn't feel the same. Plus, I kinda feel like I'm in a jail cell. Now I understand how those nuts in the asylum feel. *Claustrophobic? Didn't realize it til now*
