are yahoo/hotmail email addresses allowed?
I was telling a friend about this forum, and when he went to sign up, he got "The administrator has banned your email address. To contact the administrator click here"....he got that message with his yahoo and hotmail accounts. I know he's never been here before, and isn't the kind of troublemaker to warrant a banning anywhere, so is it just because these types of accounts aren't allowed? if a mod/admin wants I'll be more than happy to provide you with his yahoo email to see if it actually was banned. thanks!

we're cracking down on people using free, disposable email addresses to register their usernames. yahoo and hotmail are prime examples. tell your friend to spend the few bucks it takes to get a decent email account at one of the many providers out there, or simply get one through his own ISP.
a quick postscript: this crackdown will not affect those who have already registered their accounts.

On the other hand, if free email addresses are being abused, perhaps this is a reasonable approach; I'm not a moderator, so I haven't seen the problems. |
