Why can't my wife join this site?

When my wife tries to register she is told.

"You are not allowed to register multiple accounts on this forum"

She doesn't have an account

I'm going out on a limb here, but my guess would be that if she is trying to register on the same computer that you use, there could potentially be measures in place to prohibit multiple users/registrations from a common IP address. The same issue would most likely arise if for some reason the two of you share an e-mail address, and one of you has already registered with it. You might get some more concrete answers in tilted support, down at the bottom of the main page.

Hi Lovejoy777 - is she trying to register using the same email address that was used to register your account?

There must be a unique email address tied to each user's account. If you have an alternate email address available, try using that!

We've got several checks in place to keep people from registering multiple accounts, and we take that pretty seriously. As Monkie said, she's probably trying to use the same email address you used to sign up. She's got to have another one in order to sign up. That's the most likely suspect problem for the message she's seeing.

Thanks guys, there's another setting I turn on when we get too many spammers showing up, this is what tripped and she can't register.

I've sent him a PM and turned it off until the spammers get ornery again.

Really?

You are upset because the site is trying to make your experience better by reducing spam?

How is that a bad thing?

I've never seen anyone get upset over anti-spam measures that only improve their experience. How very, very odd.

Cyn, I didn't realize you'd thumbed that one back on. Good to know.

Bye, lovejoy. Clearly your username doesn't fit your temperment. Have a nice life, though.

I can see why someone would be frustrated after fiddling with it for a while.
But if one's frustration becomes so extreme that they are considering leaving the board, it would be best to send a few PM's or e-mails as well. The staff turn-around time was quite good for a suggestions thread.

Sorry that I couldn't accommodate you in a manner that works for us. I tried by allowing you to have your wife register, and turned off our protective systems which in my opinion I could have just said, "One computer, One Login." and you probably would have said the same thing, "Stupidest thing you've ever heard..." We've been at this forum stuff over 8 years now, I think we know what we are doing for the most part.

I can't see why our safety systems are a bad thing, but since you feel so strongly to this I'm sorry to hear that. I guess I shouldn't have bothered since accommodating your request made me late for work. Yes, mr. lovejoy, we all do this as volunteers, not a single one of us are paid for our energy here.

If you reconsider, check your private messages here.

when i read the title of the thread, i answered under my breath "because she's probably a dumb ass" without opening up the thread.

i'm sorry. i was wrong. she's not a dumb ass, but from your reaction to cynthetics attempt to help you, i think i called the wrong person in the relationship the dumb ass.

i do hope you come back though.

I don't know of any well-run forum (and this one is) that doesn't incorporate some sort of spam flood control by restricting registration to either one account per e-mail address or one account per IP address. The first is fixed easily enough by creating a new e-mail account; the second can be addressed by going through an administrator.

Who the hell does that? I'm curious as to how you just join a board and have NOTHING to say.

I mean, we've got everything... from exploding Jesus statues to zombie porn to gun law debate to how to work more cilantro into your diet.

The grammar here is the best I've ever seen on a discussion board and nobody is a total smacktard.

I feel like maybe I should hunt down lurkers and make them squeal.

Speaking of wives: Hell, it's hard enough finding a woman that'll put up with my choice of occupation. Not even a marriage license could keep me in a relationship for two years straight. I can't really be too picky about the lack of spontaneous oral sex these days, can I?

...

I'm starting to detest lurkers. It's like the same three dozen people post and the rest of the usernames just ogle porn or whatever.

So, to conclude, Plan9 underemployed but has a lot of feelers out and doesn't get enough blowjobs (everyone who's shocked raise your hand. Yeah, about what I thought), our Lebanese mod is busy waterboarding folks, ring doesn't like cilantro, liftrocks is funny, I'm an asshole and lovejoy isn't coming back.

Did I miss anything or are we all spent in our post-orgasmic bliss?
