Freaky display in custom blog

I just tried to read Fresnelly's blog entry: http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/blogs/f...-nice-day.html

Here's what I got:

This is based on Chrome Beta on Mac OS, and I use TFP Green as my theme. I can usually view the blogs with custom formats, but this one is beyond weird.

Yeah we've been talking about it. It looks like that's the way he set it on purpose.

I don't see users customizations because I find them too distracting. I didn't like AOL pages, geocities, and MySpace for the very same reasons.

But that's how he's chosen to make his page to be.

Perhaps not intentionally.. someone has PM'd him and made sure of that, I presume? If I could count the number of times I designed a custom CSS and didn't verify it cross-browser before rolling it into test I'd have a very high number.

Is that the option

User Customizations
Other users can make customizations to some of their pages, such as their profile page. With this option you can choose to hide these customizations.
Show User Customizations
?
Because I've turned it on and off, and his blog looks the same either way.

Nope, I cleared the entire cache and restarted. And, I've had that option set to "not show customizations" forever, and it hasn't seemed to help. I guess I'll just live with it.

It's on purpose and just a one-time fuck-around.

I generally find custom backgrounds make the blogs hard to read and so was inspired to take that aspect to its extreme.

I wrote the blog post, took a screen shot and cropped it down to just the text. I used this as my Blog's background image, tiling it both horizontally and vertically. My goal was to blur the boundary between the content area and the rest of the screen but also allow for the text to be readable.

My first couple of tries added the image to the background of ALL the sections of the blog (borders, comment area etc...) but that completely obscured the text of the post which is not what I wanted. I also had to leave the actual text mostly blank for the same reason.

It looks best if you are using the FromBasics Dark skin because thats what I took the screenshot in.

I knew it! Avant-garde!

For the record, I viewed it in fromBasics Dark wide.
