How do Local Categories work in the Blog?
Ok, I've set up all my blog's Local Categories and marked all my blog entries appropriately.
But it doesn't work! What am I missing here? The Category table shows 0 for my entries and I can't edit the table. Are there instructions somewhere I am supposed to ferret out? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |

okay there's a link to get to your categories you'll find that in your blog options
http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/blog_us...do=editoptions you can create the different categories... selecting the categories adds them to that category. BUT, we have a mod that makes that not work properly. I suggest that you still use the categories to organize, so that when we figure out how to fix the mod, you'll have all your blog entries in the right categories instead of having to go back to fix them. No ETA on when that will be fixed.

One thing that you should probably note is that this is an all-volunteer staff and that we can't immediately fix all issues. We didn't design any of the platforms that we use and sometimes they conflict with each other when we need them to do certain things. We try to fix as many issues as possible as quickly as possible, but we'd appreciate it if you gave us a little more than 18 hours to respond to issues, especially when our internal criteria is a response within 24 hours.

There is nothing untoward or antagonistic in my initial post or in my further ping. I thought carefully about it before I posted it.
There is nothing hinting at impatience in my second post. It is wrong to legitimately and openly wonder about how things work around here?? Cythetiq didn't see fit to slap my hands when he answered the post. I was just about to post a note of thanks. I think you read far more into posts than is in the poster's mind. At least in this case you did. |

You accused us of running an unsupported board. I stand by my comments. They also thought about carefully.

There is nothing accusatory in my posts. I started a thread in a support forum. I checked up on my thread with a follow-up.
The question marks and the face are visible symbols that I am just wondering and haven't forgotten about my thread. It sounds to me as if you're the one who is trying to be antagonistic. I stand by the fact that Cynthetiq answered the post and didn't see fit to reprimand me for a legit query and follow-up. |

I didn't because of 2 things, first, I try not to reprimand in public, only praise. (managerial thing...)
2nd, because it's really petty. I'm rather slammed at work, and I did appreciate the time that Jazz took to explain how I'm not able to get to a lot of the things that need attention here. I'm hoping to spend some time working on things this weekend, but it will be the first weekend away from people I've had in over 1 month (house guests and traveling.) The wife may require my undivided attention this weekend, so we'll see just how it works out. remembering that there isn't any tone or body language here and only just text, it's hard to sometimes parse how someone feels about their post. Sometimes a post seems solid on it's face, and others the individual is expecting a bit more TLC. It's something we can't see and something we can't guess. Let's just move past this as the history of the interactions has been positive between the 3 of us. I'd rather we keep that instead of picking and panning into the other direction. Just as an FYI there's 4 admins here, but 2 that do real code monkeying and and all of us do tweaking. Both of us somewhat hate to do the coding, but we do it when it's needed. Course I'm stepping on a third's toe at the moment, I'm sure of it. anyways, in order to resolve this, it requires assistance from the developer of one of the mods. I've not bothered the developer in a few months, I'll try to do so in the next week or so.

I think that you're falling into the same trap you're accusing me of falling into. I'm not being "antagonistic" (I'm not; I'm sure MixedMedia can supply dozens of examples where I am for comparisions sake). If you were being repremanded, it would not be in public.
We don't delete threads, so this one will be sitting out there until we turn off the lights at TFP. When someone else has a similar issue and finds it, they'll have reasonable expectations of what constitutes a prompt response.

Did I ask to have the thread deleted?
No. Frankly I am glad it will stay here, because when someone else has the same question, they will, hopefully, be able to find the answer. I am happy to have this thread contribute to the general knowledge of the site. Again, I did not intend to communicate any impatience. Nor did I accuse of anything I am being accused of by the The_Jazz in this thread. That is all totally being read into my posts. And frankly, I feel it is probably leftover antagonism from The_Jazz due to our previous private correspondence, in which I tried to make peace with him, again, over legit questions as the user levels. I conceded to him there. I concede here. I hope also that this thread will serve as an example of how members should be extra careful asking questions on this site, because of the defensiveness with which legit questions might be met and likewise misinterpreted, depending upon who answers the question. Peace. |
