Help!
How do I delete my account?
We don't delete accounts, but if you no longer want to use TFP, simply don't log in again.
PLEASE DELTE MY ACCOUNT!!! I didn't even know I sighned up for this website!
um, there are no less than 4 pages involved in registering, plus e-mail confirmation before you can post. I'm not sure how you could have possibly signed up without knowing.
Anyway, like I said, just click "log out" and don't log back in. What made you decide not to stay? |
I don't know... like I said I saw the verification e-mail and thought it was a sight I had decided to sign up to but it wasn't... is there no way you can delete my account?
nope, we don't delete accounts, but logging out and not coming back is just about the same thing.
Did you happen to come here through Digg? That's just about the only way I could think you might have signed up for the site without remembering it. Or, is it possible someone else you share your e-mail with signed up? Like I said, it would be *really* difficult to sign up for this site and not realize it. |
i have a question to the mods and admins: why DON'T you delete the unwanted accounts? is it hard? it seems like it's just a waste of space or something. are you scared everyone will delete their account if they have the choice?
When an account is simply inactive, it's easier for someone to come back. It's a marketing thing. Also, it's a prodigals son thing.
Well, there are two main reasons not to delete an account: 1) posts made from that account also get deleted and ruin the flow of threads, etc. and 2) it's simply a waste of time. There's no difference between not logging in and having your account deleted. I have yet to hear anyone give a decent explanation why their account needs to be *deleted* - if you don't like it here, just don't come back.
That said, I'm going to admit something here: the above person only recently joined and made no posts, so deleting his account would not interfere with anything. In fact, under different circumstances, I may have deleted his account (even though doing so is ultimately irrelevant). Why didn't I then? This user signed up only 4 days ago, and suddenly today he starts frantically asking to have his account deleted. He created this thread, posted in the Shoutbox, and created SIX other threads across the board asking for his account to be deleted. All in a matter of minutes. I'm not likely to give someone what they want when they ask so rudely. Not to mention, I really don't buy the "I accidentally signed up" story. I'm not sure why someone would feel the need to lie about that, but like I pointed out earlier, it's damn near impossible to sign up for TFP and not be aware of it. Spoiler: Don't worry though...after giving him a couple of days of thinking he didn't get what he wanted, I'll ban his account anyway - for being rude and spamming the forum, not because he asked for it. EDIT: Oh, and what will said too. |
Is he worried we're going to eat his brain or something? It's bizarre that he's so adamant about having his account deleted instead of simply leaving. You allergic to us or something, dude?
Don't tell him about that thing we can do.
He probably just discovered the porn and freaked out that someone will know he joined a site with porn.
Just goes to show that honesty is the best policy. If someone politely told me that, I'd be happy to oblige them.
he probably signed up with his mothers email account...
ha! probably thought of a better nickname but he can't sign in twice with the same email! haha.
but thanks for the explaination guys! |
The only reason I can think to delete an account is to free up a nickname that someone else may want to use and can't because it's taken...more likely than not by someone who posted once or twice and never came back. Then again...if someone who posts frequently left, had their account deleted, and then came back with a brand-new personality...that might be a bit confusing :)
