Rookie threads.
I don't know if this is considered spam, but I wanted to point this out anyway.
There is quite a vast number of new threads that are started by rookie members. I mean total newbies. What's with that? I've been noticing this trend for some time and am wondering if this is how it's been from the start. I mean, do all these people seek out this place just to ask some dumbass question about dick size or whatever, or are some of us creating rookie accounts just to ask an embarrassing question? |
Should we not encourage imput from all members even if they are rookies. Though i do see your point, however the mods will lock any threads that have been discussed before or are just bollock (for the want of a better word). I don't think anyone would create a rookie account to ask an embarrising question would they.
What suprises me more are the amount of people that have no post to their name. How long will you lurk till you voice and opinion? maybe this should be addressed. But who am i to suggest such things. I am a mere novice. |
many of the people that have 0 post count are those that just come here for the free porn. any post there does not count towards their total. eventually, they will come around and realize what a cool place the tfp can be if you participate in more than porn.

Status doesn't matter, they're allowed to start threads. If they screw up, we'll slap them around like any other member.

I know MrSelfDestruct made it very clear, but I just want to add something.
You got to be fair. Everyone starts out as a rookie. As long as the thread is not "bollacks" as superiorrain said, then it should be okay. Don't tell me we all got to wait till we are not rookies any more to post new thread. I myself had just come out of the rookie status and I enjoyed posting new thread and replying to posts when I was a rookie. Granted, it took me a while to start contributing, but hey, better late than never, right? |
I find some of the rookie post refreshing....and have had a few good laughs as well.
Remember....rookies are people too. |
I am a rookie and I think you are right. Its pretty presumtious to just start a new thread in someone elses board. Its like jumping in to the kool-aid with-out even knowing the flavor yo.
|
I think it is nice to see a rookie start an interesting thread. I think newbhating is a ridiculous form of elitism. New blood keeps things from getting stagnant.
|
come on...
don't pick on us rookies... we're trying... |
Actually, I didn't mean to pick on the rookies, or even just come across that way. I can see how the "dumbass questions" part may have given the wrong idea. I think it's great that rookies are posting, you've got to start somewhere. I just think it's interesting that such a huge number of threads specifically in Tilted Sexuality are started by rookies.
I guess my point is that a lot of these rookies seem to disappear once they get their sex question answered, and that makes me feel less enthusiastic about participating in their threads. I'm no Dear Abby, I'm more interested in helping people who take the time to contribute something to this community. That perhaps makes me a dipshit, but I don't really mean it that way. Glad to see all the rookie replies to this thread. New blood = always good. |

I'm still a rookie - been reading for a while now, and contributing more and more as I've grown familiar with the style (and people) of the board.
DOn't hate me because I still have "Rookie" under my name though :) |
Back when the TFP was running ultimatebb software, I came here, looked around past the titty board, and started posting. I wrote a freaking essay in Tilted Advice (now sexuality and living) and got a "thanks, that helped me out." I decided that if I didn't get flamed for being a newbie, it was worth sticking around. This is where I ended up.
