Yes, it's an idea worth trying...we should all leave our comfort zones on occassion | 1 | 8.33%
Maybe...but there should be popular support behind it before we make the commitment | 2 | 16.67%
Yes -- from a technical standpoint, it would give the mods/admins time to do maintenance, rennovation and cleanup on various parts of the site without taking down the entire thing | 2 | 16.67%
No. Just plain no. Not a good idea at all. | 7 | 58.33%

Scheduled hiatus(es)?
Well, I got to reading and thinking about the time that various parts of the forum were removed and how they affected the community. For the leeches out there who whined while it was gone: go away;leeches, just like their namesake, do nothing but take from others. The foundation of ANY community worldwide is the contributions of its members. So here's what I'm thinking....just to force us all out of our comfort zones from time to time, could there be scheduled and/or regular suspensions of various forums (with prescribed, but not advertised return dates) so that we are all forced to explore a little and open up our experiences on these boards? This could also provide for the cleanup and/or rennovation of areas of the forums, the ability to experiment with new styles and rules without bringing wide-ranging change all at once...
Just a thought, but there seems to be some fairly positive response to the absence of the more lurid aspects of the forum community...

I can see what you are saying overall, but if this would spread to non-titty board sections I think it would have a negative result.
This forum really doesnt need that section, but all others if removed and forcing to either not come here since thier actual favorite section is now gone, or to post in sections they dont really want to. I know i wouldnt be overly joy'd if Tilted Computing, Entertainment, Music, or Humor was removed; seeing as thats in my eyes the reasons I do a daily visit here.

Listen, I'm sure Fascism (2 : a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control ) is thriving somewhere in the world, but I'd rather not live there.
I know I'm coming off rather strongly here, and I hope you'll remember that I'm in no way attacking you...but I vehamently disagree with your idea. I come here becuase if I play by the TFP's rules, I can do what I want. Frankley, I don't need you, the mods, the government, or any-damn-one else, making me do what they think is good for me. This certainly includes shutting down parts of the board, so I can try new things. We have members that are all about tits, that's for them to own; you have no busness taking it away. We have other members that are all about cars. Who exactly gets to judge what is "good" for me to spend time in? Are you volunteering? Let's cut through the bullshit...you're talking about the sexual aspects of the TFP, aren't you? Lemme lay this out for everyone that doesn't like the ANY part of the Erogenous Zone. You don't like it, don't click it. You think other people should visit the forums you feel are more "worthy?" Do your part to make the other forums interesting. There you go. Problem solved.

Why force people out of their comfort zones. Not everyone is here for everything. Heck, I don't even go into some of the boards more than once or twice a month, and then it's usually to deal with a reported post. I let other people work on what interests them the most, and what they have the most experience with. There's really no reason to force people to do what they don't want to do.
