I think I like the idea of having my post count up on the board. I like being able to see where I stand among my peers...

I miss the post counts, and all things considered, I'd like them back too.
It gave me something to be proud of. I felt like it said "hey, he's been here a while, he contributes." I was always really impressed when someone with a low post count said something really cool, and disappointed when a high poster blatted on about nothing. One more bit of information about the person speaking, it's up to the reader what to take from a high or low count, but at least with it the information is there.

well 99% of all my post come from the TBored.
I like having my avatar back. I was up to 1000, and climbing back. I don't feel like I contribute too much crap. My feeling about the answers received from other portions of the site have been some what shallow and narrow minded. (ah hem... not including answers from the Mod Squad of course!!) Big props to all in control! RESPECT

I've only been on TFP maybe 2 1/2 weeks max. Maybe even less, but I post a helluva lot, and I try to post quality stuff. Of course, spending a few hours in Tilted Nonsense will give you a massive post count boost, but thats besides the point. You post, you earn stuff. Its also nice to see the # of posts other people have because if their PPD (posts per day) is low in comparison to their total posts, that means they've been with the TFP for a long time. Good way to tell who's a veteran and who's not. They're usually the friendlier ones, because TFP just does to you after a while.
