flame forum
so here's my idea for a forum, you call it the flame (or troll) forum and the idea of it is a place where a person can start a thread of something intended to cheese off other people, and then they can argue, just to have fun arguing. personally, i have a really good time arguing sometimes. also, it'd be isoltated enough so you could (if you're reasonably smart) know you were prolly going to get into a stupid argument as soon as you log into that forum.
yeah, yeah, stupid idea, i know, but it could work. |
One of the things that folks like about TFP is that civility is considered paramount.
Plain and simple, flaming is against the TFP charter. Flaming has a way of spreading across the board and creates more problems then it is worth. Learning to debate a topic without insulting other people has value all in itself. |
that's true. i hadn't considered that flaming does tend to spread (ha, like fire...) over intended boundries.
i knew it was against the charter, I was thinking of an exception to the rule. |
yeah. bad idea, dude. sorry but it is just as it's called. would spread onto other forums very, very fast.
|
I agree completely. I prefer my TFP to be a "utopia" of kind words 'cause God knows that certainly does not happen in the real world. And its more than a little refreshing to be able to settle in and converse with friends without having to be concerned about keeping my guard up...

No. No flaming. Thats one of the best things about this board--there is very little flaming, unlike most of the other boards I have been to.
|
get some education and walk into the Politics forum for some good intelligent debate, not trolling, not flaming, but some good repatee with fellow intelligentia.
|
I'd soo feel sorry for the mods, having to police that forum if it came about. Bad idea IMHO. Sorry!
|
One of the very best attributes of TFP is the gereral lack of flames. Quite an accomplishment really. Credit to the members, credit to the mods. Damned near every forum that I visit is beset by flames form time to time. Hell, if I wanted that, I'd shut off my PC and spend more time with my wife. :)
