"Attn mods" or similar
I realise that there is already the function "report this thread to a moderator", but, as far as I understand it, that is mainly for posts that are spam/abusive etc.
May I suggest a second item of "bring this to the attention of a moderator" or something. I'm saying this for two reasons: 1) Recently, I tried to post three threads in the titty board. I could see them, but others replied saying they were rexed. So, I edited the contents (Aside point - why can we not delete our own posts?) to have little in, and hit the "report this..." link to ask for them to be deleted - I moved it all to the links board instead. I didn't really feel that the "report this..." link was appropriate, as I'm only asking for it to be deleted due to rexing - it wasn't a priority. However, I had no other option. Thus, the "atn mods" link should go to a secondary list of things that wan doing but are a low priority. 2)http://tfproject.org/tfp/showthread....threadid=25633 - I've been waiting for a reply to my comments in this thread for a while now, so, as far as I am aware, it's simply been overlooked by the mods. I'd like to hit this kind of 'it's not urgent but I'd like a mod to look over this sometime soonish', instead of posting to bump the thread in the hope that a mod will read it. |

that's the generic board text. It needs changed, I know. don't worry about it not being abusive. we totally encourage reporting rexed posts, yours or someone else's. Quote:

and this is a perfect example of something we probably DON'T want reported. reports are for: rexes, rudeness, abuse, deletion/move requests. it you want to bring something to one of our attention personally, a friendly PM or an e-mail is probably a better way to go about it. hope that helps... if you really need to talk to a moderator, I suggest you click on the chat button on the top right of the main page.
This will take you to our irc channel on irvingnet.net, and there is almost always a mod present who can help you in whatever your endeavor. |

Ok! Seems fair enough. Chat or pm it is then. Thanks!
Also, I'm glad you don't mind rexes being reported via the link. As it says "This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising messages, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts." I thought rexes didn't fall into that catagory. I appreciate that it's all "second priority" - glad to hear it! Lastly, can I ask those reading this thread to let me know if they can see my icons in the other thread? Thanks!

Lasereth: I don't have a clue as to the functionality of allowing users to delete their own posts. I do know it can and does cause trouble though. for example, in another board I was arguing with another member, and he threw a tempertantrum and deleted all the nasty comments he had, including the post itself. so now I look like a bitch who's yelling at someone and talking to myself, and I can't even point to an edited postand say "see? he DID say something, he was just a weenie and erased it." If it ever came to it, I'd advise Hal not to turn such a feature on. y'all should be accountable for your words. Also, as you bring up, deleting the first post in a thread deletes the whole thread.
Really guys, we voulenteer to help Hal and the place out 'cuz we like it here. we DON'T MIND helping someone delete something if there was an honest mistake. that's why we're here, and why we make ourselves available to you. your welcome, cowudders, yes, I can see your icons. if you'd like some honest criticism, I think the lines are too thin to see at any reasonably high resolution. small icons need big, obvious symbolic contents. But that's just my opinion. |

Cheerios - thanks. For explaining why we can't delete our posts, for letting me know you can see my icons, and for giving me some honest, useful criticism on them. I appreciate it.
I'll have a think and see what else I can design!

Also, if it's the first post that is deleted, the entire thread with everyone's comments vanishes. We don't want that. Since there is no way for the software to distinguish whether it is a first post or not, it's simpler (and safer) to get a mod to do it for you.
