colts..
Bye bye, so long, had a great season!
-Born in Baltimore |
I'm so fucking pissed off about that game....forget it, I don't even want to talk about it right now.
<Colts fan |
It's fun watching a game when you are rooting against all three sides.
|
what a Major Dissapointment! - How could he missed that feild goal at the last few seconds?? Chicago better not let me down in tonights match up. I need to make my money back.
|
the steelers defence won the game twice, i guess it's fitting that the colts lost in the end. what a crazy game...
|
Great game. Too bad about the kick though -- i guess even the best cave in to pressure sometimes.
|
Since the 1970's the Colts have NEVER been able to beat the Steelers in PostSeason Game Playoffs.
|
that was just painful to watch. and i was really hoping for a pats colts match up.
Damn. |

Ouch. No but seriously, I think it's funny as hell about the Colts. Absolutely loved it. Peyton Manning is a verified choke artist and always has been (I'm a Vol fan, so I go way back in the day on Peyton). He wasn't able to win the big game at UT, and he can't win it in the NFL. But I don't hate Peyton or anything, I just think that until he proves he can win the big game, he doesn't deserve to be as hyped as he is. |
I jsut cannot think anything better then colts fan getting all hyped, amazing season and all, then losing in the first playoff game. I think manning is a good quarterback, it is just that they betrayed Baltimore. The truth is none of the teams that are left super interest me, I just like watching the game.

Yeah that game was a kick in the junk for a season ender. All that hype all the talk and, hey lets loose two and be done just like that. Shitty way to end what could have been a great season.
|
Well, as a Steeler fan, I'd like to thank the Colts for basically just giving us that game. We really do appreciate it, because gave it to us they did. I hold no illusions otherwise.
Cheer up, though. You guys can get your payback next week when Pittsburgh chokes for the AFC Championship against Denver. They always choke in the championship. :( Oh well, all part of being a fan...win or lose, they're still your winners or losers. |
Pshaw... this is merely a test of faith by my lord and savior, The Peyton.
I will not fail him. I will show I still carry the flame of faith in His Coltishness. Many farm animals will be slain in His name. |

I thought it was a great game... or rather, great last 5 minutes. Something about me won't let me root for Indy, so I was really hoping Pittsburgh could hold on. I thought they were done for when Bettis fumbled at the 2.
I think that was a football fans game. Lots of action. Thrills, spills, and chills. They're a real threat too. I think you'll see them in the SUPAH BOWL. |

Everything you say is true, but the following is also true: Manning went 0-2 on their first drive, leading to a 3 and out. He went 0-2 on their second drive, leading to a 3 and out. When hedid have protection, he still overthrew several passes. On more than one occasion, the "receiver ran the wrong route", or is that that Manning switched the play and did not get the signals out, so the wide outs did not really run the wrong route. Those are communication problems that fall at the feet of Manning. He is like a co-offensive coordinator, and despite James being effective in the running game, he chose to throw the ball down the field over and over again when they were down only 11 in the third quarter. Manning has said that he normally has a running play and a passing play called in, and that he has the choice between the two, and decides that at the line most of the time. So its 2nd and 2 in Steelers territory, and he decides to go for broke by throwing it to Wayne in the end zone. What a terrible call. Run the ball, get the first down, because you still have two timeouts left. Instead, Wayne doesn't come down with it, and he is forced to pass again on 3rd and 2. Peyton Manning isn't the reason why they lost, but his poor start, lack of accuracy, and questionable decision making was a contributing factor. |

The Steelers simply outplayed The Colts on both sides of the ball. And Manning is a douchebag for putting the blame on his recievers and offensive line. Maybe he wouldn't have been sacked so many times if he could actually move around outside of the pocket once in a while. I thought it was hilarious seeing the gigantic Casey Hampton chasing Peyton around behind the line, and Hampton was faster.

link: http://www.superbowl.com/news/story/9168866 NFL says official should have upheld Polamalu call NFL.com wire reports NEW YORK (Jan. 16, 2006) -- The NFL said the referee made a mistake: Troy Polamalu caught the ball. The league acknowledged that referee Pete Morelli erred when he overturned on replay Polamalu's interception of a Peyton Manning pass in the playoff game between Pittsburgh and Indianapolis. Mike Pereira, the league's vice president of officiating, said in a statement that Morelli should have upheld the call, made with 5:26 left in Pittsburgh's win over the Colts. After the reversal, the Colts went on to score a touchdown and a two-point conversion, cutting the Steelers' 21-10 lead to 21-18. That led to a wild final few minutes, and Pittsburgh clinched its win only when the Colts' Mike Vanderjagt missed a 46-yard field-goal attempt. On the play, Polamalu made a diving catch of Manning's pass, tumbled with it in his hands and got up to run. When he did, he fumbled the ball, then recovered. Colts coach Tony Dungy challenged and Morelli ruled Polamalu had not completed the catch. About a dozen TV and scoreboard replays indicated otherwise. Had the call stood, the Steelers would have had the ball at their own 48 with an 11-point lead. "The definition of a catch -- or in this case an interception -- states that in the process of making a catch a player must maintain possession of the ball after he contacts the ground," Pereira said. "The initial call on the field was that Troy Polamalu intercepted the pass because he maintained possession of the ball after hitting the ground. The replay showed that Polamalu had rolled over and was rising to his feet when the ball came loose. He maintained possession long enough to establish a catch. Therefore, the replay review should have upheld the call on the field that it was a catch and fumble. "The rule regarding the performing of an act common to the game applies when there is contact with a defensive player and the ball comes loose, which did not happen here." The NFL almost never makes public the result of its reviews, although it did three years ago, when Pereira said officials should have called pass interference against San Francisco on the final play of a wild-card game with the New York Giants. The correct call would have given New York a second chance to kick a game-winning field goal in a 39-38 loss. After the game, Pittsburgh linebacker Joey Porter said of the ruling: "I know they wanted Indy to win this game; the whole world loves Peyton Manning. But come on, man, don't take the game away from us like that." NFL spokesman Greg Aiello had no comment on Porter's statement. In the past, players who have made such statements have been subject to fines. |
After the past weekend, I have lost a LOT of confidence in NFL officiating.
Between blown pass-interference calls, a moronic illegal contact call, and a facemask call, let alone the interception, I think the NFL needs to actually have some sort of real, public accountability for their officials. |
A sad, sad postseason for football ref's, college and pro.
The only sympathetic figure in this is Tony Dungy. On top of his family tradgedy, his players fail to deliver the goods.... again. |
it could be worse....you could be an eagles fan......
and isn't it funny how we all (myself included)heap scorn upon professional athletes, coaches and referees when the VAST majority of us would cry if we had to do what they do |
