The Jets won... that's not good for our stakes in the Reggie Bush sweepstakes..

Texans have 1 win, the Packers and Niners both have 2 wins..

Some say the Texans have Carr and Domanick Davis, so they wont take Bush, but I think they will.. sigh..

Bush looks like a whole new type of RB.. in the veins of LaDanian.. i really wanted him in green..

Really, if I were Houston, I'd trade my first round pick for a later first round pick and a good O lineman, then use the pick to take another lineman. That's really what they need. It is going to be hard to pass up Reggie though. I have a feeling that as long as he goes to a team where he won't have to share carries (San Francisco comes to mind), he will be LT version 2.0. It will be a very interesting draft.

drafting o-line in the first round isnt worth it.. I know theyre important and very underappreciated.. but 1st round picks on o-line is a waste... You can get very good O-line in the later rounds... 1st round should be for the skill guys

Since 1995 46 lineman have been taken in round one.

At least thirty of them could easily be said to have had good NFL careers. I would bet that number is at least equal to any other position.

When you have a serious need (and the Texans, for one, don't at RB), and a good enough player is available, you take them.

I agree, I would be willing to be bet, percentage wise, for every Tony Mandarich there is a Ki-Jana Carter and for every Anthony Munoz there is a Barry Sanders. If I were Houston and had the #1 or #2 pick I would trade down, take D'Brickshaw Ferguson and gain other picks in the trade to build from. Look at how the Chargers traded the #1 pick that the Falcons used on Michael Vick and picked up LT and other picks. I think that arguably that trade should be considered as worked out better for San Diego.

They also got Drew Brees from that (although I think he was from the second-round pick the Chargers already had), and you could argue that he's a better QB right now then Vick.

I also hope Bush destroys his ACL or stiffs Houston by staying in college.

Jets biggest need is really for a QB. Reggie Bush is amazing, but there are more good running backs than there are QB's in the league, they have to spend their first round pick on a viable alternative to Chad imo. The Jets would have had a winning record last season with Chad, but I dont see him as the guy to push on to the next level.

The Jets won’t draft an alternative to Pennington; they will either draft a replacement or go a different position. Just before last year, he signed a team record deal guaranteeing him 23 million. They will not draft a QB in the first round and keep him.

You mention that Chad won’t take them to the next level. What is the next level for the Jets? Winning a playoff game last year and almost beating the Steelers was pretty much reaching their peak level. They got a career year out of Martin that year, and he just had major surgery. At his age, there is no way is the RB of 2004 again. For next year, they have one good receiver, an injured QB, and an old, and now injured too, running back. They aren't going to the next level anytime soon, despite having a good defense. The AFC is too good.

I'd say they have two star receivers personally. And I think when Martin is fit he should be good for one more season.

The next level for the Jets is challenging for the superbowl. With the current starters fit, I think they are a winning team, but not a Superbowl team.

To be honest, any team that has a chance at Reggie Bush and doesnt pick him is probably making a mistake - but it depends what you can trade to get him. The Jets would have to give up way too much to get close enough (ie no 1) to get him.

Just as long as they dont spend their first pick on a kicker....

The Texans will most likely take Bush, because like Strange said, any team that has the opportunity and doesn't take him is making a mistake. However, I think that the Texans really need to look at the biggest problem they have, which (as has been said) is undoubtedly the O-line. Jesus Christ, David Carr's sack stats are completely unexcusable. Granted, some are now saying that Young is the top pick after his absolutely stunning performance in the Rose Bowl, but IMHO, if the Texans do that, they are making a colossal mistake. Carr is a marquee player, nobody could do any better behind such a pathetic line.

All that being said, I hope the Titans get someone that might actually be worth a fuck. (I'm looking at you, Pac-Man.)

i agree with the fact that david carr is doing an ok job not getting decimated yet by his nonexistent o-line.. but for reggie i wanted to see him in SF jsu to be wit his hgih school teammate alex smith. Its almost guarenteed the Saints gonna get a QB most likely leinart but if young declares.. o lordy.. I do think the Texans should get reggie and then trade davis if bush is tearing it up in training camp.. with that said the texans would get a good deal on anythign for davis

He is amazing to watch and his potential is equally amazing, but it will take 2-3 years for him to really learn the NFL system and mature/develop as a QG at that level. Certainly, the Jets need a QB, but they also need a coach, among other things, so they need to carefully weigh their options. If they want to rebuild or build around a guy like Vince Young, then they have to make picks accordingly and bring in players and coaches that can help foster that growth.
