RIP Eddie Guerrero
I just heard on the radio that he was found dead in his hotel room. WTF is with everyone dying this year?! Gah! Let me see if I can find a news article:
This is what's on WWE.com Quote:

I heard about this the other day. I'm always saddened when atheletes die; especially professional wrestlers. They have a really tough row to hoe. RIP Eddie Guerrero.

Here's the WWE press conference with Vince McMahon and Eddie's nephew and professional wrestler Chavo Guerrero.
http://www.wwe.com/inside/news/guerreroconf The cameraman tends to walk around but the audio is perfect. It is interesting they spent some time talking about his past addiction and that he just celebrated 4 years clean. Something to be very proud of. It also touched on his becoming a born again Christian and how he was proud of his new found faith. Also of note is that McMahon states Eddie's family will be reaping some financial benefits from his wrestling "forever" in royalties. I know that does not help bring Eddie back, but it is nice to know that the family will be taken care of. A very interesting and heartfelt press conference handled with dignity and class. The wrestling world today truly lost a great performer. RIP Eddie. Raw and Smackdown will be paying tribute..... somehow they sound like don't miss events. |
Wrestling is a small family, and regardless of people's views on it, that is what they are. The loss of any one of them is a heart-felt tragedy for any of them. Eddie really seemed to have his stuff together.

wow.. i remember just seeing him on tv too.. i grew up watching him, the rock and stone cold.. ill miss you Eddie!

When I was little I was a HUGE fan of WCW.
Seeing Eddie come out and win dirty and be a complete jackass made me hate him so much. A couple of years ago I got into wrestling again this time however as more of a "smark", Eddie would draw prime heat week in and week out like nobody else could. Instead of hated I really grew to love him regardless of whether he was face or heel, nobody did the old "throw the other guy the chair and pretend he knocked me out, ref" shtick than Eddie. Eddie was also a solid ring worker, as a cruiserweigh in WCW he would put on matches with more technical skill than the best luchadores. His matches vs Rey Mysterio Jr were some of the best, because the always technical Rey looked a couple of steps behind Eddie. And that frog splash. An otherwise crappy finisher, Eddie made it look like it was the Sweet chin music, Stunner and People's elbow all in one. Then even after he went to WWE and roided himself up, he was still hugely entertaining, perhaps more so in WCW because now he could legitimately contend for he World Title(s) (which he eventually won), and feature in more storylines. He also borrowed a page from Benoit's book and added the three rolling German suplexes - The Three Amigos. The name of the WWE is now World Wrestling Entertainment, and that's what Eddie brought to the ring every night, Entertainment. So long Eddie, you will be missed. |
Its really sad, he's only a year older than me....38 is a very young age to go....I've loved Eddie since his very early days, although I didnt like him as "much" on WWE and I hated the way he looked all big and everything (I hope they dont find he was on steroids)
RIP Eddie, you gave me many nights of enjoyment watching you work the ring |
Saw it on the news last night for the first time. I was pretty upset - he was so young, and so damn entertaining. He'll definitely go down in my book as one of the greats.
RIP Eddie, you'll definitely be missed. |
Smackdown had an excellent tribute to Eddie. It was amazing to see Vince truly breakdown.
Something did seem weird, almost everyone who talked about Eddie talked of how he was in great pain. Anyway, I bawled like a baby watching some of that. But the ending with Benoit winning, getting the Eddie chants as loud as he could and Malenko coming out was priceless. It seems us fans will never truly know how great a man Eddie truly was. |
Eddie passing was sad but Stephanie and HHH talking about him seem forced and they kept leaving out a kid on raw.
|
God dammit I missed the SmackDown tribute and it had Malenko :( :( :(
