one way or the other, the spot will be filled, don't worry. The draft will remain the same date and time as posted. I haven't even advertised on the Yahoo message boards yet.
But if anyone here is still interested, you are more then welcome to the spot. Just PM me and i'll send the info. |

All the spots are now full. Thanks to everyone who signed up, hope we have a great season. Just a reminder, the Live Draft will be tomorrow, Sunday, at 9PM Eastern. Please make sure to be there early and prepared. Your season will go much smoother if you are ready to draft well. For those that can't attend, which I hope is no one, make sure to get those pre-rankings set so that you are more likely to get the players you want.

Definitely got thin near the end, although, if the new rules on interference hold up, I think there are gonna be some surprises from the bottom part of our draft.
And is it just me, or are there alot good starting goalies out there right now? It seems like everyone got at least 2 excellent picks, and quite a few got 3. |

Dont look now, but according to Ken Holland, Pavel Datsyuk will be back with the Red Wings this season (supposedly by the weekend)!!! But then again, until I see Pavs in a Winged Wheel jersey, I'm gonna assume his agent is full of shit, like every other time Holland has spoke to him.
Silly me for not drafting him |

nope, I got Zetterberg as my official Wings player of the season, and Kronwall for shits and giggles. I also have centers coming outta the woodwork, so unless you want one in return for Datsyuk, I'm out of that race.
As this wave of patriotism seems to be limited to Russian players (Datsyuk, Kovulchuk, Korolyuk), I have a feeling this is a new way for teams in Mother Russia to extort extra money from NHL teams by basically holding Russian born NHL players "hostage" with big contracts, with the help of their money grubbing agents. When the NHL team pays (under the table of course) a large some of money to get the player back, he is coincidentally freed from the team who showed so much interest in him in Russia. This is the reason that Russia refused to sign the IIHF contract, so that this could all be done without anyone looking over their shoulder. Last edited by Nikilidstrom; 09-20-2005 at 02:51 PM.. |

well, the government has stated they want to start a league that openly competes against the NHL as a rival. They have been wanting to keep as many of there good players as possible, and have used many means to that end, including enforcing manditory military duty, not signing the IIHF, and now of course, outbidding NHL teams for those players. These players, over the past few years, have only been released to the NHL after substantial monetary payouts to those teams holding their Russian rights. I really have no idea if, or how much, the Russian mafia has to figure into this, as I don't really know anything about their position in/with the Soviet government, except the BS they put into movies and video games.
I see now that another Russian born player, Alexander Semin, is violating his current NHL contract with the Capitols by remaining in Russia for unknown reasons, even though he was supposed to join Washington for training camp. He has even played a game for his Russian team in the Superliga. Get used to this sight over the next few seasons. |
