AL West Race deadlocked
Is it me or are the A's going through one of the hottest stretches in recent history? I knew they would heat up, but damn!
16-1 yesterday and 11-0 today (granted against the Royals), but that is nuts. This is a case of obviously stellar pitching and their young bats getting really comfortable and maturing. As an Angel fan, I am scared. The Angels had an 8 game lead 3 weeks ago and now it's gone. While they haven't played horrible lately, only mediocre (they're 1 or 2 games under .500 since the All Star break), the inconsistency of the Angels offense is killing them. I think the A's will likely jump up a couple games on the Halos, but the Angels have always stuck strong when the A's get hot and stayed within striking distance. The A's can not play this hot for much longer (at least my heart is telling me). It will be a great pennant race, especially if the Angels bats start to ignite. These are two of the best pitching staffs in the AL, which makes it even more exciting.

On to topic..... the A's are doing extremely well but they lack experience, I look for them to falter.

no pitcher wants to come to texas. back to the topic, i hope they don't falter. it would be nice to see a team that lost, i believe, 2 of their top 3 starters from last year and they are still in the race. they can retool, that's for sure. |

You forget Hart had control of my Indians so I can feel for those Rangers fans. Nice to know Hart hasn't changed...... pay big bucks for has been pitchers and think Offense will take you to being WS champs.
Topic: Yes it would be nice to see them recover after losing Mulder and Hudson.... however I think thay have shown that already. I know I sound like a homer but out of the top 3 wild carders (NY, A's and CLE) Cleveland has by far the most favorable schedule. NY plays the strong East way too much, the A's and Angels battle too much and will kill each other.... Cleveland on the other hand plays 20 games against Tampa and KC and quite a few against Detroit (9)... Min and Chicago series are 6, then Baltimore, Oak, Tex, and Tor. 3 games each... And Cleveland is peaking now. You figure Cleveland wins 16 against Tampa and KC, 6 against Det, take 6 vs Tex/Oak/Tor and split with Chi/Min.... they can pull the WC. But I'm daydreaming.

As for the A's being better in pitching.... the A's and Indians right now have almost identical stats. BA = // Cle = .267 ////// Oak = .268 ERA = / Cle = 3.88 /////// Oak = 3.77 WHIP = Cle = 1.24 /////// Oak = 1.25 In almost every stat (except HRs) they are comparable. And the Indians swept Oak. in May. but went 1-2 in Oak in July. Ya just never know.

the A's hot in the 2nd half??
uh yup. we've seen this one before. they'll get to the playoffs on a hot streak and the first real series of more than 3 games against a qualified team, and it's back to the families. dont get me wrong, i love the a's. they do so much with so little. gotta love a contender, but they'll never be champs again with beane in the house.

Well, the A's took 2 of 3. If Angels didn't have their heads up their ass, they would have swept. There has got to be at least 6 games in the last few weeks they had in the bag.
Today's game ending was just the icing on the cake. Never seen that in my life.

Wow, K-Rod is such a l00ser. I've never ever seen a play that sucked so bad. It's on the same level of David Cone's famous "argue with a stupid call over first while all the runners keep running and score" .... lmao.
How bout the diving collision between Mike Cameron and Carlos Beltran? I've seen people collide, but diving, headfirst, into one another? HFS. |

Sportscenter said that Cameron's injuries weren't as bad as they first appeared.. right AFTER they said he broke his nose and had multiple breaks in both cheeks.
Did they first say his heaad fell off?
