If those old bastards like Martinez, Olerud, Moyer, etc. can stay healthy I'd take the Mariners. Braves got a shot too. I'd say Giants even, but only if Nen comes back in September like he says he will.

That would be nice, but I'm not counting on it. Last year I bet on them to win the series in June at 40-1, shoulda bet more than $5.

I would have to say that the Braves are tearing it up right now, and are my favorite for the Series. The only reason I'm cautious about saying that is this: I've been a Braves fan since '89 (*back when they still sucked*). I've seen them with a losing record, I've seen them go from last in the division to first within a month. I've even seen them go to multiple World Series'. But they've only won ONCE... what an utter disappointment. You just HAVE to keep telling yourself... "This time is different..." :)

absolutely the cubs, theyve only been losing a few lately because of a few burps in an otherwise flawless bullpen.

Diamondbacks. On a roll, and they're only going to get better with two of the best pitchers in the league coming back soon.

I like the Astros in NL Central, but I'm not sure they can beat the Giants.
The Yankees will run into problems if they keep playing like textbook Red Sox (I'm a Sox fan, so I can say that).

I'd love to see a repeat of 1985, but I'll settle for the Royals just getting the AL Central Pennant. Anything after that is just icing on the cake.

We don't have a "Series" pitching staff, but as long as we can hit the longball, and give them some runs to play with, than I don't see why this can't be their year! and then again, If they don't choke!!

I think the Giants, even though they had it last year and let it get away.

True, it's not the World Cup, where most countries send a team to compete, there are only two countries providing teams. But Major League Baseball players hail from many countries. 30 percent of ALL major leaguers come from Latin America. Right now, 50 PERCENT of the minor league system is from Latin America. On many team's 25-man rosters, American-born players make up only about half of the team. Just one example:

12 of 25 "Yankees" were born outside the 50 states. 4 Dominicans (Soriano, Mondesi, Benitez, Wilson), 3 Puerto Ricans (Williams, Sierra, Posada), 2 Mexicans (Garcia, Osuna), 1 Panamanian (Rivera), and 1 Japanese (Matsui). Plus there's a Cuban (Contreras) on the DL right now, not part of the 25 man roster.

By the way, Merrie Olde England has provided 32 players to the majors Since 1871. No offense, but none were any good. The most recent was Lance Painter, a relief pitcher for Colorado, St. Louis, Toronto and Milwaukee from 1993-2001.
