le tour--any cycling fans in tfp land?
 

just for starters--

does anyone else out there think that this could be the most exciting tour de france in years? any guesses for top three on the stage one itt?

i'm pretty geeked out about it: brought home several croissants to enjoy during olntv's live coverage in a few hours. think i'll fantasize about sheryl crow until then. [i met her several years ago when she was a relative unknown, and opening for the allman brothers band on the horde tour, sleeping with greg allman...she was SOOOO hot then, and has definitely improved with age......]

anyway--back to cycling: am i the only cyclist?

I also enjoy the tour, and have since the year before Lemond first won it.

I thought it was funny last year on ESPN when they said that Lance was in like 15th place midway through the race, I guessed they would know that he needn't lead the whole race, just the end. Kind of like a Nascar fan getting pissed because Dale Jr didnt lead the whole race... its all part of the Tour.

Anyway, yes I too look forward to this year's tour.

And holy crap... Barring a crash or sickness, Lance just won number seven on the FIRST DAY. Him passing Ullrich... That might just top "the look". No one else was even close... Almost disappointing, everyone kinda just fell apart, except for him. An I think Ullrich is going to be working for Vino pretty soon here... Should make it interesting, at least Vino will attack...

Hey Sailor, I think you were the one giving updates during last year's tour. The updates were really good for me as I don't have cable TV and hate reading the same generated, unoriginal analysis the AP gives everyday. So, if you feel like doing that again this year, I'd be all for it. :thumbsup:

I get excited for the tour every year! Since I work at a bike shop I hear about many of the riders and other races, but I love the tour. I don't think the tour is over yet. Not by a long shot. I think Ullrich might not be as big a factor as anticipated since his collision with the car, but there are lots of other big time riders out there. If anything Ullrich has the best chance simply because of an amazing team. That brand new TT bike Lance and two other teammates had is pretty awesome, I guess, he certainly was impressive on it!

Since I work during the coverage I'll have to bittorrent the episodes, but yeah, last year Sailor's updates were very helpful

I'm rooting for Lance again this year as well.. It's just such an awesome story.

Again Ullrich seems not to be fit enough to compete with Armstrong.
Thats very sad, couse I hoped for a real exicting battle between the two and now it seems to be over before it begun :(

Yeah. In his defense, he did crash hard the day before the tour started. He was out training on his time trial bike and the team car in front of him unexpectedly had to slow down, and he ran straight into it--hard. He went clear through the rear window. Didnt really hurt him, he only needed a couple stitches, but I suppose he could just be sore, and that would dampen the morale a bit. But still no excuse for the trouncing Lance gave him, and he stated that in interviews after the stage. Like I said, I think he's out of this race.
