Baseball is disgusting!!!
Let me start out by saying I'm a huge baseball fan.
So I was watching a baseball game on TV the other night and for some odd reason I started keeping track of the number of times the pitcher spits on the field! I mean I know baseball players spit a lot but I guess I never realized how much! I counted at least 2-3 spits per pitch (that's not including the number of times they lick or spit on their hand and then apply it to the ball. That's another thing...think about how disgusting that is when the catcher has to hold the same ball with all that saliva on it and throw it back to the pitcher each time! In the real world, if someone spit on their hand and tried to shake my hand afterwards I would give them a disgusted look...so why is that perfectly ok when it happens on a baseball field??? If each player spits that much, the field must be covered with spit throughout the course of the game. Besides the spitting, I noticed that players also snot all over the place. They would hold their finger against one nostril and then blow out a huge snot-booger through the other nostril! All this right on the field of play! I'm not saying I'm the cleanest person out there, but that's just disgusting!!!! Last edited by BalloonKnots; 04-18-2005 at 09:51 PM.. |

No threadjacking here......
Every sport isn't so clean. They are not trying to win any beauty contests or "cleanest player" awards at all. During a game, you are hot, tired, and don't give a shit about that kind of stuff. It isn't like the catcher is licking his hands or eating a sandwich between pitches.

lol, I was thinking of this thread the other day when the ump actually had to warn David Wells from spitting on his hand and not wiping it off before he pitched. Somebody actually made a comment about jason Varitek having to catch it.
