It was an all around solid event. The Coutere Lidell fight was so-so. Basically what happened was off the bat the two were standing toe to toe and swinging, they had to pause the fight briefly because Coutere got poked in the eye. When they resumed the fight Coutere came out swinging and landed a few good blows, but he swung wild on one and Lidell connected and dropped Coutere right to the mat, he quickly got on top threw in 3 quick blows and the ref jumped in and called the Fight. I think it was a KO 2:02 in the first. Not by any means a bad fight, just sucks it ended so fast.
The rest of the PPV was pretty sweet, the Matt Hughes Trigg Fight was the highlight for me. Trigg caught Hughes with a cheap knee to the balls but the ref missed it, Hughes staggered and waited for a call but never got, Trigg capitalized and kept swinging. They went to the mat Trigg almost got that reverse headlock he lost to the last time, some how Hughes got out of it, picked up Trigg slammed him to the mat and a few seconds later ended up winning with the same Submission as last time. All in all there were 6 fights I think, most of them were good quality.

I haven't seen it but I heard about it. Good recap mojo. All I know is Matt Hughes is the mutha fuckin man. Trigg has all the weapons to win, but he just doesn't have the power he needs to beat Hughes. I was kind of disappointed about how the title fight went. While both fighters are great, I would rather it have gone at least to a second round. It's ok though. I'm sure we'll see the two of them again.

Chuck seems to have a problem thumbing opponents. I don't think it's intentional nor do I think it effected the outcome of this fight (maybe the Ortiz fight, though), but it raises an eyebrow. Couture jumped at Liddell a little too carelessly and caught a huge right hand.
The MW and WW divisions look pretty stacked now. I hope to see Hughes vs. St. Pierre soon, and maybe the winner of Franklin vs. Tanner against Lindland. It will also be interesting to see how the TUF guys fare against UFC competition. |

I hear Franklin is going back to 185. I don't understand why. He looks good at 202+ and can really pound at that weight. He just doesn't look as impressive or fight as well at 185 IMO. I guess he's after the belt and since that's the hot division, I can' t blame him too much.
