Buffalo Sabres' AHL affiliate experimenting with new ice color
Yea. You heard that right.
link they claim its to make the game more easy to follow with fans...that's funny I thought a black puck on a white ice was pretty easy to follow. Silly me, colors closer together create the better contrast. Call me a traditionalist but this is retarded. Next thing you know, teams will be coordinating colors to match their team colors. why don't we just paint the ice the colors of the highest bidding corporation...oh wait we already give them space on the ice for ads I guess painting the whole surface would just be over the top.

Next thing you know they will be putting chips in the puck so it glows on TV... oh wait. Right. Sorry.

hehe, was thinking the same thing about the fox failure with the puck. making the ice another colour will not make it easier to follow. if you don't understand the game, like all sports its hard to follow. i watch cricket when its on. but i have no idea what is happening. if the grass was orange would make no difference to me.

It's a black fucking puck on white fucking ice, how hard can it be to see the damn thing? They need to leave all aspects of hockey alone, all they are doing is screwing things up. I just can't believe they can't see a black puck on white ice, what idiots.

The only "enhancement" I would approve of would be if they found a way to have the puck PERMANENTLY on FIRE!!! That would be totally cool, and easy to follow!

I was more in favor of "piss" yellow instead of the blue to symbolize the giant piss the NHL and the NHLPA took on all of the fans. My second choice was "blood" red to show how both sides were able to stomp every last drop out the NHL's failing heart.
I guess blue will suffice for now as it shows how the league and its players are choking on their on stupid pride. |

I really don't think it's that bad, doesn't look THAT much different. Technically they'd just be changing things back to how they used to be, since the ice was blue back in the old days of hockey.
I guess it's good that they're doing something to try and help fan interest in the game. Even if the PA and the NHL are both being stupid at the moment, maybe someday we'll see hockey again, blue ice or not.
