Patriots' Bruschi to remain hospitalized

Boston, MA (Sports Network) - New England Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi will remain in Massachusetts General Hospital and undergo additional tests after suffering "stroke-like symptoms" on Wednesday.

The Boston Globe reported Thursday that Bruschi's symptoms of persistent headaches, blurred vision and partial paralysis were most likely caused by a broken blood vessel in his head.

The paralysis is reportedly gone and he is said to be in good condition. Bruschi was admitted to the hospital Wednesday evening after complaining of severe headaches.

The 31-year-old Bruschi recently helped lead New England to the team's third Super Bowl title in the last four years. The Patriots defeated Philadelphia 24-21 in Super Bowl XXXIX on February 6 and joined the 1992-95 Dallas Cowboys as the only teams in NFL history to accomplish the feat.

Bruschi, a nine-year veteran out of Arizona, had 122 tackles last year, which trailed only Rodney Harrison for the team high. He also recorded 3 1/2 sacks with three interceptions in the regular season.

In the postseason, Bruschi was equally as effective as he had two fumble recoveries in the AFC Divisional playoff game against Indianapolis and an interception in the Super Bowl.

Bruschi, who was playing in the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career, did not show any signs of a problem during the game.

Nevermind, that information was already in the first post. He's probably my favorite on the Pats, best wishes his way.

I saw on yahoo that he suffered from a broken blood vessel in the head and possibly a stroke. Now, I'm no doctor, but I always thought a broken blood vessel in the head was an aneursym. If this is true, it's a pretty serious injury. I wish him a speedy and full recovery.

edit: Here's the link.

An aneursym is just a weaking of the vessel. The weak spot can inflate sort of like a balloon. A stroke occurs when a part of the brain no longer receives oxygenated blood; consequently one occurs when either a vessel burst or a vessel is blocked.
