TFP week one Playoff Discussion thread.
Ok,
Now that the play-off picks board is closed and all entries are in we can now start discussing why the Jets and SeaHawks will go all the way to the super bowl etc. The Play-offs are upon us!

Well, this much can be said of the picks, everyone that is in the playoffs thinks that the Colts and the Packers are going to win. Five of the matchups will be decided by the Rams/Seahawks game, two will have to go to at least the second tiebreaker, and the one remaining matchup could be decided tonight and if it doesn't it will go to the third tiebreaker. So in easy to read format:
If the Rams win Then Giant Hamburger(2), steelerz(3), ironchef82(4), Fantasma(5) and BonesCPA(10) will advance. If the Seahawks win Then crewsor(15), cameroncrazy822(14), maximusveritas(13), dylanmarsh(12) and bond007(8) will advance. Five players will be out after the first game of the postseason (which ones we'll know in a couple of hours). The remaining matchups don't rely on one game.

Yea well, I have to put faith in the fact that there is 12 teams all on an even playing field. They don't need a 14 and 2 record, they just need to take stock in what they have and get through the next month.
Over all the Jets are not a slouch of a team. They just need to know when to pull pennington. They should just have one guy on the sidlines who whole entire jub is to watch every freaking move penninton makes, from scratching his ass to passing the ball. The Jets are not a bad team, even though the Chargers are on the hot side right now.

As Jaws said earlier today, Brees has swagger. That 3-4 defense is gonna absolutely kill Curtis Martin, and Chad Pennington can't make a good throw, he's got a rotator cuff injury, not good at all for a QB.
The Seahawks....well, what can we say about the Seahawks. A selfish RB who thinks his coach has stabbed him in the back, a QB that tends to throw INTs, and a receiver core that is so doped up (minus Jerry Rice) they can't see the ball coming. St. Louis wins because they have unity and their passing game has hit an excellent stride and Stephen Jackson is coming into his own.

Are any other Canadians really disappointed with Global's coverage of the Seahawks / Rams game?
I need american satellite... this is total bullshit. Also, couldn't they find some more interesting announcers? These guys are boring as hell.

Seahawks SUCK!! These receivers couldn't catch a game winning ball if their lives depended on it, albeit it was a tough catch, but this is the catches he is getting paid millions to make. What a heartbreaker that was, two in row in the wildcard. And to top it off, Rice wasn't even used in the final drive, which is understandable because they need speed on the field, but with receivers that don’t know how to catch, what good is it? What an upset, Hasselback could've probably got it to the goal line had he kept the ball.

Yeah really, totally uncalled for, and could very well cost them the game. Not that I mind.

What a terrible game, the Bolts showed up for a little bit of the first quarter, and the last drive of the fourth. They got shit ass lucky too that Barton was a cement head and decided to throw in forearm smack. I too found myself wondering why they went into the middle 3 times, just a stupid decision.

Dat sucks. I was rooting for the Chargers. (Can't stand New York teams). Marty reverted to Marty ball when he didn't need to, those were really odd calls... Which brings me to my point of NFL OT being crappy. They need to adopt College's OT system, but that's another thread entirely.

In the TFP Playoffs:
Giant Hamburger, steelerz, ironchef82, Fantasma and BonesCPA advance to the second round already. If the total points for the weekend are: 219 or less - djtestudo advances against Spartak. 220 or more - Spartak advances. 207 or less - Chauncey advances against Absorbentishe. 208 or more - Absorbentishe advances. If Denver is the lowest scoring team or the total points are 213 or more - present_future advances against archer2371. If Denver is not the lowest scoring team and the points are 212 or less - archer2371 advances. Early week 2 lineups - Giant Hamburger vs. BoneCPA and ironchef82 vs. Fantasma. The rest to be decided today.

Minnesota wins. The points are totalled (205 by my count). Here are the week 2 matchups:
djtestudo(1) vs. Chauncey(8) Giant Hamburger (2) vs. BonesCPA(10) steelerz(3) vs. archer2371(6) ironchef82(4) vs. Fantasma(5) Unlike the real playoffs, the favorites only lost one matchup. New thread to open on Monday.
