Browns to hire Savage as new GM
Local media in Baltimore is reporting Phil Savage, Director of Player Personnel for the Ravens, has agreed to become the new Browns GM.
Phil is a HELL of a scout, and is a big part of the success the Ravens have had in the draft over the past decade. He'll be missed, but I'm glad he is getting a chance as GM. |
Good for him. Sucks for the Ravens. Seems our coaches and front office get raped by other teams every year. Its great that they are able to move on to better opportunities, but I would think it has to take a toll.

Cleveland media is reporting that he had a chance to go to Miami and some other city, but turned them down (not knowing he was up for the Browns job).
Supposedly, according to CLE. media Savage chose CLE. because he was impressed by the fans when he worked here before the move and truly loves the area. |
I think that a good move for the Browns. They have some talent on the field; they need good people in the organization.
As for the Ravens, John Clayton reports that the 49ers are interested in Jim Fassel and Mike Nolan, among others, for their head coach vacancy. That goes on all over the league though; the Pats may end up loosing Romeo Crennel in addition to Weis. |
It looks as though Nolan may be headed to Cleveland also as the head coach.
