Great god! Jeff George is back!
Whadya know, someone finally got desperate enough to bring this headcase back into the league.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/column...len&id=1933215 "Having already gone through three starting quarterbacks this season, Bears coach Lovie Smith said after his team's Thanksgiving Day loss at Dallas that he still had "some options," and that likely means Chicago will turn to third-year veteran Chad Hutchinson in Week 12. It apparently also meant, however, that the Bears would sign a more experienced quarterback who might add some playmaking skills to a woeful passing game that statistically ranks dead last in the league. On Saturday evening, Chicago did just that. Free agent Jeff George signed a one-year contract to return to the NFL, ESPN.com has learned. Financial details were not immediately available, but it is anticipated that the contract is for the league minimum of $760,000, prorated over the final five games of this season. The deal came after George huddled much of Saturday with Bears coaches and team officials. The Bears are expected to announce the signing Monday." Last edited by Jadey; 11-28-2004 at 04:28 AM.. |

Runtuff,
I'll "bet" Art doesn't have the "time" to play anymore. If they want a back-up. I think there are some washed up QB's from the past few years that could play, like Couch, Leaf, Akili Smith...

Ive been a Bears fan all of my life, and I have never seen the bears sink this low as to be the laughing stock of the NFL. Oh I wish they could bring back the 1985 Bears thats for sure.

I'm a Bears fan and I like the signing. Obviously it's not a long-term solution, but he can't possibly be any worse than Quinn since Quinn may honestly be the worst QB ever in the NFL.

God, the Bears are depressing. I went to the Thanksgiving game and was embarrassed to be wearing blue and orange. WHY IN GOD'S NAME DID HUTCHINSON NOT PLAY AT LEAST THE 4TH QUARTER IF HE'S GOING TO START THIS WEEK?! It's not like we had no clue that Quinn sucks donkey balls. And now Jeff George. I guess he'll start the following week, like it really matters at this point. Now, we just have to wait and see how badly the Bears will screw up their high draft pick. At least we have the Bulls...oh wait, they suck even worse. Who would have guessed that the Cubs would turn into the city's only legitimate shot at a winner year in and year out?

Why in the hell didn't the team have a legitimate backup QB on the roster at the start of the season? That was their first dumbass mistake.
Don't forget they gave Tim Couch a tryout several weeks ago and passed on him. Wonder how he feels about now? Signing Jeff George is ridiculous. |
