Hi, need advice on basket ball team I drafted.
hey all,
I was asked to do a money league today, Rotisserie 13 team league. I was last pick. The thing is I have not followed b-ball in years and am totaly outdated. I picked up a mag studied for 2 hours and did the live draft. What do you think, does this team stand any chance at all? any changes I should make? I tried to throw a couple of sleepers and rookies in at the end. hope I dont get burned from it. Any how any advice would be appreciated. I know everyone in the league. Roster Positions: G, G, F, F, C, Util, Util, Util, BN, BN, BN, DL Stat Categories: FTM, 3PTM, PTS, REB, AST, ST, BLK, TO, PF I picked last G A. Miller (Den - PG) G S. Jackson (Ind - GF) F P. Stojakovic (Sac - SF) F S. Marion (Pho - SF) C M. Okur (Uta - FC) Util G. Payton (Bos - PG) Util R. Alston (Tor - PG) Util V. Radmanovic (Sea - PF) BN M. Camby (Den - C) BN J. Hart (Cha - PG) BN L. Deng (Chi - GF Thanks

Andre Miller - My favorite player and a very solid PG. Led the league in assists in 2000.
Stephen Jackson - Not the best player, but definitely not the worst. Peja Stojakovic - Simply amazing. Shawn Marion - The Matrix is highly underrated. Produces every game and doesn't make sure everybody knows about it. Mehmet Okur - A developing PF/C. I heard there are very high hopes for him. Gary Payton - The glove. Was amazing in Seattle and Milwaukee; sucked in L.A. Roll the dice on this one. Rafer Alston - Went from the single most underrated PG to the single most overrated PG. Let's hope he's more "Skip" than "Trip." Vladymir Radmanovic - Last I heard of him, he got hit in the head with a pass from Payton. Do with that info as you please. Marcus Camby - Finally produced like he should last year. High hopes for this veteran. J. Hart - No info Luol Deng - High draft pick with even higher expectations. Expect him to produce from the start.

collison will play more and put up better #'s than vlad rad... all your others sound good except for him, hart, and deng. 13 teams means a small free agent pool, but probably a lot of unscooped gems out there since the season hasn't started yet. harpring, bobby jackson, and raef lafrentz are all guys that might do your team some good if they're available. trade andre if you can get premier value for him... earl boykins will be eating up a lot of his minutes if this year is anything like last.

Thanks,
I have#1 waiver priority from picking last. Lafrentz and Harpring are taken Bobby Jackson is available. Hart is going to be the starting Point Guard for the BobCats. Is it possible that he have a break out year? Also they say that Deng may see a lot of playing time becasue him team sucks and has noone else lol I took a gamble on a few possible sleepers and unkowns . You know when you get towards the end rounds it is really easy to pick up a lot of has beens. I went for the unkowns. Well I did pick up Payton He can actually be a sleeper you never know. People like Mason, Cliff Robinson and reggie miller are available still. Do you think i should be dropping Rad, Hart and Deng for others. also Eric Snow, Udonis Haslem, jim welsch are available. Is Marcus Fizer on a team this year, I do nort see him anywhere? Anyhow I got most of my information from magazines and yahoo articles. Thanks for the advice

As far as I can tell, Marcus Fizer is not on an NBA team this season, but he might be picked up sometime during or right before the season. You can find all NBA news at nba.com

camby's loooking great... nene is actually the one hurt right now... i highly rec droppin hart for the gopher(bobby jackson). from what i hear, only gerald wallace and primo brezec are going to be worth having fantasy wise so far if you're looking in charlotte. in fact brezec would be a great C pickup for you if you need one. haslem's the only other guy you mentioned that i'd consider picking up... def more potential than vlad rad... and again, on the sonics, collison is gonna have a nice season.

My big sleepers this year as far as forwards go are Antionio McDyess and Johnathan Bender. McDyess has been impressive, and should be in the regular rotation if he stays healthy in Detroit. Bender is going to get a lot more playtime this season, and I think he's going to have a huge season. Could be wrong though.
I'd drop Hart and pick up another forward (or shooting guard if the positions are more specific than "guard" and "forward"), you have four point guards and really don't need him. Charlotte is going to struggle this year, I wouldn't really put a lot of faith in most of their players. Quote:

on waiver priority....
having #1 priority is an awesome power to have so save it until someone drops a smokin hot player you really gotta have... this means only picking up players w/ the FA status... steer clear of the W status till it turns to FA a couple days later, and if someone else grabs him oh well, you still have priority for that idiot that drops ben wallace cuz his ft% is getting messed up.

Well,
I just found out that . You can only play each positions 82 times. So you cannot switch players on their off days with people on the bench. Kind of makes the league a little boring due to you just leave your regular guys in.

I can't believe Peja dropped so far in your draft. I would have thought for sure he would be gone in the second or third round.
I don't know if I would be so quick to drop Hart. I'm not saying he's a sure fire keeper, but someone is going to have to handle the ball in Charlotte, so someone is going to have dish out the occassional assist. Might be a good one to hold onto until you see what's happening down there. I would say grabbing Jackson off the FA list is a better bet, but I've had him on my team the past few years and ended up getting burned by his constant injuries. Drap VladRad. He's asking the Sonics for a max contract, and sounds like he has all the makings of locker room cancer. His outrageous demands, the availablity of Collison, and his inability to play basketball will keep him towards the end of Nate McMillen's rotation.

Well that makes it so that I would be dropping Vlad and Hart
to pick up 2 others. I was actualluy htinking about Tinsley, I almost drafted him but took Deng instead. Bobby Jackson seems good. Also what about Cliff Robinson or Haslem? And thank you for all the advice.

isn't jameer on the magic? if so, he gets buried behind francis/mobley and plays only rookie garbage time. b.jackson and j.tinsley might be the best players out there from what you've told me.... but you are loaded at pg w/ 3... i'd choose one you liked more for j.hart and then for vlad rad either roll the dice with haslem(unproven protential) or grab primo brezec, the C for the bobcats.... he's one of the only 3 players slated to make a fantasy dent there along with gerald wallace and emeka okafor.you might also want to look at the rookie on the raptors.... araujo i think, who will be starting with chris bosh on the front court.

Well at this point I am thinking of either picking up one or two of the following
Waivers turn into Free Agents in the morning so I ll be able to do my pick ups in th e morning. Jamal Tinsley Jonathan Bender Dan Gadzuric Michael Sweetney Haslem bobby Jackson I will either drop Vlad or Hart or both of them. I think this is going to be a big decision becasue If any of these possible break out players start really showinfg signs of life others might take chances on them.

Not a fluke per se, but it won't happen again this season I bet. He is going to be coming off the bench and will be at least the 5th or 6th option, it's all going to be Dirk and Finley, followed by Stack-Terry-and Howard/Daniels.
I picked up Gadzuric. He is a big sleeper canidate, this year he will be starting and playing at least 15-20 more minutes per game.
