Cardinals - Sox World Series! Predictions!

Let em flow!

I like the Cards. The Bosox pitching really wasen't that strong. Pedro didn't look good. Schilling only had 4 good innings. Lowe pitched well, but he's inconsistent, Wakefield, well, you never know..

While the Cards pitching isn't good either, I think the lineup is superior.

Cards in 6. However, as a Cubs fan, I'd love to see the Sox win it all. Break one of the curses baybee!

Spartak 10-21-2004 07:20 PM

The Cards were my pick to win the WS, I think they may do it. Their pitching is suspect, but their bullpen is pretty good, and their lineup 1 through 5 is shear hell.

EDIT: Oh and La Russa is an excellent manager.

shortynickel 10-21-2004 07:34 PM

I am not quite sure who i want to win...but i know this is gonna be one hell of a great WS!!

MacGuyver 10-21-2004 07:45 PM

Whatever the opinion or stats are... NEVER underestimate my Red Sox.

djtestudo 10-21-2004 08:05 PM

Red Sox have better pitching. Cardinals have better hitting.

Going with the Sawks for the same reason I have been with them: once they win the World Series their fans can finally SHUT UP and go back to being just another team.

:)

soccerchamp76 10-21-2004 08:23 PM

CARDS IN 5

Nearly impossible to go through Walker-Pujols-Rolen-Edmonds-Renteria-Sanders unscathed. Brandon Backe got lucky. Clemens did not.

guthmund 10-21-2004 09:43 PM

St. Louis will win, but not in 5.

This one is hard to call. Boston is riding high and playing the first two at home. Their pitching is suspect, but then again, who's isn't? If they play as well as they did against New York then I suspect it'll go the full 7 and even then it'll be down to the wire. If Boston flounders in the first two games at home or Schilling can't pitch then I suspect it'll only go the 5.

However, St. Louis is good, but sometimes you're never sure who the hell shows up. I mean we had Houston down 2-0 in the series and then we have to force game 7?

This is too tough....

Okay....Cards in 6.

That's it.

Fineto.

Final.

present_future 10-21-2004 10:11 PM

Cards in 6. I know my redbirds will be able to pull it off.

bbbbbb555 10-21-2004 10:50 PM

im going to have to go with the red sox, after they great series that they had. not that the other one was bad. i think that it will take 5 games.

Jadey 10-21-2004 11:01 PM

I'll pick my Cards in 6.

We have Carp possibly ready to play a role out of the BP and with the exception of MattyMo our starters have done a pretty decent job in the post season. I think the Bosox pitching is shaky. You have Schilling that's a bit of a question mark because of the injury, Pedro who's been shaky, DLowe who's inconsistent as all hell (and an asshole to boot), and Wakefield. And I'm most afraid of Wakefield if he's on.

One thing I think you can count on being a factor in this series is the team defenses. I can see Bellhorn and Ortiz on the right side flubbing a big play before thing are all over. I think the Cards can take advantage of thier "small ball" capabilities with those guys in their and we'll see what happens. Also, I can see St Louis testing V-Tek's arm. That guy is a stud (and just an all around good person) but he's doesn't have the canon you'd like behind the plate.

Oh and BTW, the Cards are there DESPITE Tony LaRussa.

Lover's Spit 10-21-2004 11:09 PM

I cannot predict baseball for the life of me, but I want to see Larry Walker win a World Series. Combine that with my hate of the Red Sox, and I'll say St. Louis takes the series in 6.

Oh, and I'm going to predict that this Series will be MARRED BY CONTROVERSY.

buffto 10-21-2004 11:09 PM

whew. i'd love it to come to a gut-wrenching extra innings game 7. and I WANT the cardinals to win. but as far as a prediction goes..
1. cardinals have best offense in mlb hands down. however, sox are somewhat close.
2. red sox have much more potentially dangerous pitchers.
3. both have an extremely rabid fanbase
4. red sox have that stupid curse.

I predict Sox in 7

World's King 10-21-2004 11:37 PM

Sox in 7.

And fuck Ben Afleck.

Glory's Sun 10-22-2004 05:52 AM

Of course I'm going with the Sox. Always have always will. Now Boston's pitching will be a key, but we have a better closer. Isringhausen (sp?) is scary when he's closing. So if it's close late.. you better bet on Boston. The yankees had a lineup just as dangerous as st. louis and (after the first 3 games) Boston's pitching shut them down. I think it will be an offensive series, with the Sox winning in 6.

and like OK said.-- fuck Ben Afleck

EbolaVirus 10-22-2004 06:08 AM

Red Sox in 6

Giant Hamburger 10-22-2004 07:03 AM

All I want is a full series of 7 games.
In the seventh game I want it to be close and, if possible, extra innings.

aliali 10-22-2004 08:20 AM

Cards in 7. Can they play long enough to get through the election?

ndfresh 10-22-2004 08:28 AM

Cards in 6. I'm sick of hearing all this talk about the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry. We play some pretty good baseball in St. Louis.

Jimellow 10-22-2004 09:46 AM

It would be nice for the series to go 7 games.

I think the Cardinals will win in 5 though.

inharmony 10-22-2004 09:49 AM

Sox in 7...

toverfie 10-22-2004 11:27 AM

I really believe that the sox got through the yanks on emotion...no way they carry that to the series.....the cards will win it by the 6th game and of course the curse will live on.....Bill Buckner...etcetc I do believe the cards might have trouble with the knuckler but beyond that, they have little chance

maximusveritas 10-22-2004 02:41 PM

I think the Sox will win in 6. now is the time

canuckguy 10-22-2004 03:31 PM

those cardinal bats are just scary but i gotta go with the sox in 7 games.

Beatlefan58 10-22-2004 08:06 PM

I'd like to come up with something fresh and different, but I have said the Cardinals win in 6, and I'll post it here. Five games won't surprise me; I know the players are pros and the idea that the Sox spent all their emotional energy on the great comeback shouldn't be given much credence, yet I can't help but think they are going to be a bit flat after the Yankee series.

I also think LaRussa vs. Francona is a mismatch in the Cardinals favor.

yankeefatboy 10-22-2004 10:24 PM

Who cares; the Bombers are out. There is no joy in mudville.

aerozeppelin 10-22-2004 11:36 PM

Being from STL, I have to go with the Cards. I say Cards in 6 - 2 losses coming from Schilling. Pedro hasn't been dominant for quite some time, and is no good in clutch situations - look at last years ALCS or even this years ALCS for evidence of that. Wakefield and Lowe dont' scare me, nor does Arroyo out of the bullpen. Plus, I don't think Boston had to deal with anyone as dominant as Pujols in the ALCS - no one on the Yankees is as singularly scary.

MacGuyver 10-23-2004 01:18 AM

Ortiz actually playing first for games 3,4, and 5 ought to be quite interesting... I'm actually a little worried.

paddyjoe 10-23-2004 04:15 AM

Yup, what he said.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but seeing the reaction of everyone on here and on ESPN and in the papers...it kind of makes me excited that everyone "else" is excited about the World Series since the Yankees aren't in it. Not that I'm not hugely disappointed, but it'll be easy to get over when the

Cards win it in 5, thanks to shoddy, tired Bosox pitching.

archer2371 10-23-2004 08:11 AM

Cards in 6.

shortynickel 10-23-2004 07:31 PM

after watching most of game 1 i think it will be red sox in 7.

I think it would be cool if the Sox won...but i dont think they will "shut up" after they win tho /shrug

MacGuyver 10-23-2004 09:10 PM

Sox fans will never shut up. At least I wont.

radioguy 10-24-2004 03:46 AM

give me the cards, even though they lost game 1. i want to curse to continue. if it didn't, what would boston have to talk about? :)

Jimellow 10-24-2004 05:36 AM

My prediction is likely wrong. In order for my prediction to be right, the Cards would need to win 4 in a row from this point on.

We'll see, but I doubt it. :)

macsmith230 10-24-2004 11:44 PM

Let's just say Sox in 5. We'll give one to the Cards for showing up.

boom29 10-26-2004 01:03 AM

I still think this series will go seven. The Cards have yet to lose at home (in the postseason), and they did have the best record in baseball. Though I am rooting for St. Louis, I'm not really a fan of either team. Basically, I just want the series to be good.

yoyoyobro 10-26-2004 08:23 AM

After the first 2 games of the series. I would have to predict that the Sox take it in 6 Games. I just can't see St. Louis not being able to put up a fight at home with such an explosive offense. At the same time I don't think that they will be able to have it go 7 so with that the prediction is again RED SOX IN 6 GAMES

Beatlefan58 10-28-2004 10:26 AM

Reading these predictions now is fun. Editing our predictions to *all* call it for the Sox in a sweep would be even more fun! LOL

YellowBlaze654 10-28-2004 10:49 AM

if only the stros were still in it........ i blame it on edmonds, the momentum breaking catch
