Well, they were seeded pretty high in the West - so the Cinderella tag may not fit.
But noone picked them to get this far - many didn't pick them to win their first series. Dallas will have its hands full against San Antonio. Again, noone will pick them. So if they win this one, yeah, maybe kinda cinderella. |

yeah, i hate bill walton also.
i remember before a game, they showed this prediction from walton before the season, he was like "with jordan, the wizards would surely make it to their conference finals and blah blah blah" that was pretty funny, he got crushed on natl tv. anyway, i love dallas, they have such an international group there!

Yayyy! It's great to see the Mavericks win against all odds. It may not be Cinderella, but it sure is a pleasant surprise. They actually played solid defense in 2 games during the series with the Kings.
Now it's down to two Texas teams. Noone could have seen that coming a few years ago. Yeehaw! |

The Mavericks came through with another victory. Still, all the media can talk about is how good the Spurs were - as they lost. And of course, when the Mavericks effectively adjusted their defensive approach, it was just "a few defensive gimmicks." Whether they win the series or not, the Mavericks deserve a little respect.

i've loved the sport of basketball for some time now. i rooted for the lakers before they sold out and turned into the bulls with gold jerseys. my fav player was nick van exel and was crushed when the lakers traded him. so i'm rooting behind him and the mavs all the way.
however, since i have not had a fav team since the lakers --> bulls transition, i've just been a fan, and watched the game. good going directv. sorry, was happy that dallas won |

not really, besides the fact that it's gonna be a good game. i think it's kinda balanced in some sense.
true, dallas has no one to guard duncan and lacks on the defensive end. however, dallas has lots of hot streaky shooters. finley, nowitzki, la frentz, van exel, nash. these guys put up numbers quick. so it kinda boils down to a shootout between duncan, ginobli, bowen (not from the charity stripe tho) of san antonio and the above listed from dallas. in game 1, i think nelson out coached poppavich when they started fouling bowen. at first i was uber disappointed, but he played the stats well, and managed to take the crowd out of the game. hell i was out of the game for a bit and would have shut off the tv if i had not been laughing so hysterically. and man, san antonio has to be able to shoot free throws. god damn, what were they? like 31 of 48, while dallas was 49 of 50 making 49 straight? god damn, that won't do it for you. they had an 18 point advantage, but the free throws alone, which stops the clock, gave dallas 18 points alone over san antonio. well, we'll see. it's gonna be a good game. go dallas! go san antonio! |
