Angels and Dodgers both in playoffs

What a day for the LA area baseball teams. The Angels come back in Oakland and take the AL West crown, and the Dodgers improbably come back in the bottom of the 9th to beat the hated Giants on Steve Finley's grannie (I'm sure Halx is partying hard tonight to celebrate that ).

I must say I had serious doubts last Friday night when the Angels fell 3 games behind the A's. After all, they were staring at 7 of their last 9 games on the road. Well, Vlad Guerrero had an MVP week, including a two-run jack today. With the Angels getting to the playoffs, I think he has to be the MVP favorite. The pitching was stellar as well. Bartolo Colon had two solid starts on Monday and Friday to cap a great 2nd half of the season. The Angels bullpen looked pretty good. As for the A's, well they miss the playoffs after 5 straight appearances. Mulder let them down in September. They should've pitched Rich Harden in this series with the Angels.

The Dodger game was unreal. As soon as that error by the Giants SS in the bottom of the 9th happened, I knew the Dodgers would pull it out. They must think they are a team of destiny. What is it, 53 come from behind wins?

Looking ahead to next week, I think the Angels would rather play the Yankees, despite not having home-field advantage. That sweep at the hand of the Red Sox is fresh in the Angels mind, no doubt.

The Dodgers will likely play the Cards, which is not a good matchup. The Cards have lost a lot of games lately though. They may be meaningless games, but momentum and energy are important things to have in the playoffs.

I would rather have the Angels face the BoSox in a 7 game series. The curse always seems to work better when you 1. give it time to ferment and 2. really work up the Boston fan's hope with a 3-1 game lead.

I also grew up a big Dodger Fan Garvey, Cey, Lopes etc... and hope that they are somehow able to make it all the way. I will die and go to heaven if it's an all LA World Series.

Go West Coast! -except for SF may it sink in the next earthquake-

please please please don't let us have another cal world series. Ugh. Nothing against the teams, but the 2002 WS actually made me stop watching the series only because it doesn't favor a east coast schedule.

Then last years series I didn't give a flip about also.

Yeah, but if the Angels make it to the series and FOX is showing the series just think how often you'll be treated to commercials, tie-ins and celebs in the seats for the show and cast of THE OC.

The horror, the horror.

Oh my god. I was going nuts. I was bouncing off the walls. I was screaming my lungs out. Now I have two GREAT tickets to a game tomorrow that means absolutely nothing. I have mixed feelings.

I tried to call KeyserSoze to tell him congratulations on the Angels victory, but my cell phone was cutting out so I couldn't tell if it was him or his voice mail.

If there ever was a 'destiny' team, I believe the Dodgers are it. Can you believe all of these come-from-behind victories they've been having? Something just possesses the other team's bullpen and makes them choke hard. I don't believe in ANYTHING, but if this continues, I may by the 4th week of October.

Watching highlights of the Angels game, I gotta say that Frankie Rodriguez looks nastier and nastier as time goes on. That kid is wicked.

I'm hoping for a Dodgers - Angels world series, that would seriously be incredible. I think the Dodgers have a good shot at making it to the end, this year's team is so different from the past couple of Dodger teams, especially with all those come from behind wins. The Angels, well, they're the Angels and they just make things happen.

Go Angels and Dodgers!

What sucks is tomorrow's games are in the morning and afternoon here in California. Is anyone else going to be like me and smuggle into work an antenna to connect to a TV. We have a million fucking TVs at my work, but of course no cable or satellite. They're all VCRs combos or whatever. I may go into work extra early, like 6:30AM so I can leave at 3 and catch the end of the Angels/Red Sox.

My thoughts exactly. "That kid is wicked pissah!"

But the Sox are going down. Vald the Impaler will own your souls this offseason.

As a fan of the Dodgers since the '77 WS, I hope the Dodgers get a little payback for the Clark and Smith homeruns Tom Niedenfeur allowed in the '85 NLCS in games 5 & 6.
