Vince Carter trade request - U want him?

So now Vince Carter wants out of Toronto. A few years ago I would have been praying that my team (Da Bulls!) would go after him, but now after the many years filled with injuries and dissapointment, I hope we don't.
Do you want him for your team?

I’ve seen you hit the ground like one of those fathers on “America’s Funniest Videos” who seems shocked that a 3 foot kid swinging a giant plastic baseball bat is likely to hit you square in the nuts. I know you get injured. And that is not entirely your fault – though, to be honest, I do have questions about your work habits in the off-season. But, even when you were healthy, you completely stopped driving to the hoop. I know I’m not the first to make this observation, but having watched every game you’ve played since you were drafted, I can see that at least one person hasn’t figured it out yet.

Now, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention all the charity work you’ve done over the years. It certainly deserves respect. And while the cynical side of me makes me wonder if it wasn’t all about your image, I give you full marks for all the time and effort you put into it. You’ve helped a lot of people and that really should not be forgotten.

I’ve defended you in this very column space. I’ve defended you on message boards and barroom debates. "I can spend the rest of my career [as a fan] giving guys a chance. It's time to move on."

It is my sincerest hope that Rob Babcock moves you sooner rather than later. I suspect that the preferential treatment that you’ve received (and likely demanded) over the years has held this team back.

There may be no “I” in team, but there certainly is one in Vince.

I think the thing that probably pisses me off the most is that a few months ago I bought two youth Vince Carter Raptor jerseys for little family members. I knew I should have went with Chris Bosh jerseys.

Good luck Vince. I mean that sincerely. Good luck in finding a city where the press is going to give a free pass to a sulking player making 12 million per. Good luck in finding a team that will not mind spending that kind of cash on an above average jump shooter. Good luck in finding another city that will support your charity game so wholeheartedly.

We’ve had some good times. You’ve done some things on the floor that still amaze me. But, you are like that prom date that informs you at midnight that you won’t be… uhm, consummating the end of your high school career with her. You looked great on our arms. You had the style and the grace that made others jealous. We were proud to be with you. But, when it came right down to it you couldn’t, or wouldn’t, go all the way with us.

Now, Babcock has to find us someone who will go all the way. The fans of Toronto are ready to take the next step.

We want to resurrect our franchise. We know you’ll understand.

As for my opinion on Vince and whether I want him on my team (the Sixers), I would say no. There were trade talks of Vince coming to the Sixers, but the Sixers are starting to go with youth, and I like that. They already have AI, they don't need Vince.

I don't want him for either of my favorite teams, the Hawks or Wizards.

Wiz have plenty of scoring, they need defense.

Hawks have a lot of cap room, which fortunately did not go to Dampier. VC is not worth the cap hit for the Hawks.

My Favorite team is the Spurs, & I wouldn't even trade Sean Marks for the guy.

Nobody wants an overpaid baller who can only dunk the ball. He's jumper is weak and he plays no D. Plus he gets hurt every year. If some GM does want him they should be fired.

The only people who really like Vince are 12 year olds who are amazed by a man who can jump out of the gym.

I'm sick and tired of Vince Carter. This guy bitches and moans that the team has been going downhill... Well who in blue hell did they build this team around!?! I have an idea Vince, BE A LEADER!!! And to start it all off, why not lead by example by coming to the pre-season in tip top shape, and actually putting some effort in?

Even more frustrating is that there are probably more than a few GM's willing to pay this lazy freeloader top dollar. I really hope Toronto can get at least a couple of great prospects for him.

That's a big fat NEGATIVE!!! He whines too much, is often injured, and isn't the team player that he was at North Carolina. Whatever team he goes to could end up being worse. Just say no to Vince!

I'm a little concerned with what this comment is attempting to imply.

As for the question in hand, I dont know a lot about basketball, but I've seen some clips of Carter hitting some pretty sick dunks, Im sure he will be a worthwhile addition to someone's squad.

Yes, yes he will, and any team needs to give all of their prospects for him! ;)

Okay, really though, my Hawks won't be that bad. Besides who's gonna pay all that money for a guy making way too much cash to play 30 games a season? And when he does play it's only on one end of the court! This guy should be happy that he got that big contract in the first place.

He is overrated, I would rather have Clyde the Glide come back and play for my team rather that Carter.

Carter officially is useless for a competive team. Injuries aside he has no killer desire.

So do I, he'd be the perfect compliment to Allan Houston: they're both overrated, overpaid, injury prone, and a soft. Wait a second...I just described the entire Knicks team this season. (With the exception of Kurt Thomas. He may be overpaid, but I'd take him on my team).

There's only two owners in the league that would be crazy enough to trade for VC: Isiah Thomas and Mark Cuban. Thomas doesn't have the assets to get it done, but Cuban could probably pull it off. (Finley for VC, anyone?)

ESPN Insider has also been reporting rumors of Baron Davis and/or Jamaal Magloire for Carter for a few weeks now. That's actually not a bad trade, it gives New Orleans a player to sell some tickets around (like him or not, VC puts fans in the seats - see the voting results from the last three or four all-star games), and it gives Toronto better-than-decent PG. Magloire has also said that he actually wants to play in Toronto.

Should've trade him last year to move up draft so T.O can get Camelo or Darko... yeah.. but thats just wishful thinking
