paul mcquire
i am watching the denver-kansas city game and all i can think is how does paul mcquire keep his job. he is abrasive and still shocks me by his lack of knowledge of the game(and i base this on my knowledge which includes playin and coaching college football) is there anyone out there that likes him?
i do love pat summerall - i like mike patrick since his early days in d.c. but summerall is one of the all time greats. and it's a great game |

I agree he's a tool.
I wonder when he gets smart to Theismann, Theismann doesn't turn around with: "Oh how many Superbowl rings do you have Paul ? NONE ? Thought so, shut the fuck up".

I'm with you. Paul Mcguire was PUNTER for chrissakes! What the hell does he know about football? He is definitely one of the most negative announcers in football.

He's a windbag that loves to hear himself speak and never lets facts get in the way of his opinions. Turn the sound down.... They should fire him so there would be one less tewl in the box.

IMHO - I believe that both McGuire and Theismann are the worste announcers in broadcasting. McGuire is negative and Theismann just continues to spout about how great he was. I don't think either ever pay attention to the game in front of them.

Well anyway I'll say it - I actually like the guy, if not for his rare comedic moments but when he's busting Theismann's chops (whom I wish they'd find a replacement for). A little off topic, but has anyone ever heard how Theismann changed how his last name sounded in college to rhyme with the trophy (used to be pronounced Theesman). I think I've heard that, hopefully not making it up.

Unless you're outstanding (like let's say Vinateri, or Ray Guy), you're easily replaceable. See the revolving door of kickers and punters every year.

My dad told me he was watching a game once and McGuire's partner made a comment to the effect of "the evolution of the passing game" and McGuire said "What's evolution?"
There was dead air for about a minute as the game went on with no commentary. When the two returned, they had completely changed topics. -Mikey |

i don't seem to have a problem with these guys. in fact i think they are one of the better crews covering football. i have no problem with them being negative especially when a team deserves it. it seems that announcers are always trying to be positive with teams even when they don't deserve it. i like to know when a team or a player is doing something wrong. i like pat summerall a lot but i think he has gotten too old. i remember watching a game last year when runner was all by himself and he stumbled and fell down and then got up and continued running. summerall announced that he was tackled and then fumbled. i forget who the color guy was but he did a good job of gracefully letting pat know that he was completely wrong on the call. in my opinion brian baldinger of fox sports is one guy that shouldn't have a job. he is the master of the obvious and has no idea what is really going on with each team. maybe we should get rid of the national announcers and stay with the local guys. |
