Everybody has their favorite college team, but do you have one you hate?
Is there a team out there that no matter who they play you hope they lose?
I have several: 1. UVA - just becasue I'm supposed to having gone to Virginia Tech and all 2. Notre Dame - too big of a "God's gift to college football" complex - plus they suck and still manage to have their own network. 3. West Virginia - be sure to take out a life insurance policy before going to one of their games - there is no telling when a beer bottle full of urine will hit you in the back of the head. 4. Miami - just a bunch of thugs. |

Duke, because they suck.
UVA, because when the states of Maryland and Virginia have argued for 400 years over various things, the two state universities have played in the same conference, and have had many good teams over the years, it's basically the law. WVU, same as UVA, only different conference. Did I mention Duke sucks?

Virginia Tech - I'm a Cavalier fan, and Hokies have always been assholes, especially when they come up to Charlottesville and start talking shit. So rivalry + cockiness = h8.
University of Florida - Steve Spurrier is quite possibly the biggest crybaby in the entire history of sports. Every time after they lost, I was reminded of Tom Hanks' line in "League of Their Own"... there's no crying in football either! I was elated when his lame excuse for an NFL coaching career came to an end. Oh - and living in Jacksonville and preferring UVA and FSU, Gator fans were always waaaaay arrogant. And did I mention there's NOTHING to do in Gainesville? Nothing at all. Its a farm town with a university in the middle of it. I'd hate to go there. West Virginia - The fans are pure idiots, plain and simple. "OMG WE ALMOST WON TEH GAME!!!!1111 LET'S RIOT TO CELEBRATE!!" I mean seriously, who flips over cars and burns shit after damn near every game in Morgantown? That's lame.

Army, although I don't HATE HATE HATE them, like I do the Sox, Mets, Jets and Islanders, but they're the closest thing in college football to being a hated team. Basically just for that one afternoon in December I HATE HATE HATE them, after that we're all back to being on the same team in real life.

Get out of the time portal you are in.... its so typical that everyone thinks that miami is just a bunch of thugs... Its really getting OLD, when they have been staying out of trouble for the last 10-12 years.... what is it with some people.... Oh yea, and by the way, prepare for you Hokies to get destroyed on December 4th. Payback's a bitch, just ask the Washington Huskies Fans that. Oh and Teams that I hate... 1. FSU (for obvious reasons, being a Cane Fan) 2. Ohio State (the "Thug" School of the new millenium) 3. Virginia Tech (change your school colors) .... dont take it personal, just good fun... |

Notre Dame.
How many "Die Hard" Irish fans do you know who never went to school there, or for that matter have even been to South Bend. I frequently ask ND fans why they have such an allegiance and the answer is always something like, "No, I didn't go there, but my dads best friend did....blah blah blah..." |

here's what I posted on that other thread:
Quote:
Think about it: Michigan, UVa, and UT are places where you can get a world class education. Notre Dame is well known and well respected for it's academics. Even state schools like UTenn, Georgia, Ohio State, 'Bama, OU, and Nebraska, while maybe not as highly ranked, are the destination of choice for so many high school seniors from their respective states. Other good football schools have school-wide reputations. USC-wealthy party kids or film school wannabes; Colorado-partying hippies; Syracuse -partying jews; Purdue, Wake, NC, Duke, and several others have good academic reputations; Auburn, VAtech, Texas A&M, Arkansas -rednecks; FSU, LSU -just plain partying; etc... Miami -... uhm, football in the last 25 years. I know and have heard far more about Miami of Ohio as a school than I have the school that is represented by the Miami Hurricane football team. Maybe I'm wrong. I'm not from South Florida, but I've met plenty of people from the schools above that aren't from around here. If there's someone out there that knows many non-football Miami students or grads, let me know, and I'll eat my words. But my impression is that Miami is not really a school so much as it is a football factory, and therefore I can't make myself root for them unless I need them to win to help a team I do care about. |

Im not trying to make you eat your words... BUT, you need to be educated a little more about the University of Miami... The University of Miami is a Private school with about 15,000 students, tuition is roughly $25,000 per year (in state). The university has one of the best Medical Programs in the Nation!, If you want, just google Miami-Jackson Memorial Hospital, Its a HUGE Facility, that has students doing research, etc. Considering that we just moved into the ACC, it certainly has some merit that we are Academically prestigous considering the caliber of schools in the Conference. (I know, I know... Football had a lot to do with this move... but.) On top of that, UM, has one quite a few BASEBALL National Championships, we have one of the best programs in the nation... Other top ranked athletic teams at Miami include, Swimming, Track (ala Lauryn Williams, gold medalist), Tennis, etc.... The school has the reputation from people outside of South Florida that UM is ONLY a Football school... but it is far from the truth... Obviously football is Top Dog though... I DO NOT attend the "U"... I attend Florida International University. Though I love my school, I could only have wished to go to UM, well, Im ONLY $22,000 dollars short I hope I have enlightened you and others some... btw, its a very beautiful campus as well. |

Miami "the crybabies" anyone ranked higher than the Bucks! Go Bucks you can say anything you want, but they win. and "week ass schedule"? We played 3 bowl teams from last year for our 3 non conference, you want to talk about weak, try all the schools that schedule 1AA schools for the first couple weeks.

speaking of UM, has anybody read the book "'Cane Mutiny" about the Miami football team?
I saw it at Barnes&Noble this weekend and thought about getting it, but just couldn't make myself pay actual money to read about Miami football. |

Colorado Buffs
Most people tend to hate the teams that unexplainably win over decades. Like the Yankees - no one but Yankees fans want them to win. They've won too much and the players and fans are pretty cocky. Probably seem cockier about their Yankees because of the success. It feeds on itself. Then there is a team like the Buffs. Historically more often better than most. But not in the top echelon. They have the cockiness in a way that is they try to PRETEND they are as good as the FSU's, Michigans, USC's etc... but they arent. I have to say I dislike the CU's out there more than the Yankee's type teams. |

I'm an OU student, so I guess I'm supposed to dislike Texas. But, other than during the weekend they play against eachother (2 more days!) i cheer for the burnt orange.
Teams I dislike: 1. Miami - bunch of thugs, oftentimes win only on superior athletic ability and not necessarily disciplined play. easily most disliked team in the nation. 2. Notre Dame - No reason other than that people who haven't a clue about college football seem to cheer for ND by default because they're the first team they can think of. 3. Michigan - chronically overrated.

The University of Washington Huskies!!!!!!!
I'm a diehard Washington State fan even though I do live on the west side of the state. I just cringe whenever I see somebody wearing the purple and gold. I'm just reveling at the thought the Huskies are 0-4 this year. Finally the UW alumn uppity-ups are getting a taste of humility! I guess it really doesn't help that my wife is a UW alumn. I still love her though!
