GAME: Link baseball players together
A thread similar to this was started in Tilted Nonsense involving actors, and I want to try the same thing with baseball players.
The way this game works is that I will post two ball players' names and you have to try to link the two through various other shared teammates. Then, you get to post the next two names. For example: Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron Babe Ruth played with Ray Mueller on the Boston Braves Ray Mueller played with Lew Burdette on the Boston Braves Lew Burdette played with Hank Aaron on the Milwaukee Braves Easy enough. Now, here goes: Barry Bonds and Reggie Jackson

Are we allowed to use online aids, because I know of at least one that does EXACTLY what you are doing.

Four or less will be tough, if not impossible. I got it in 6. And I didn't use the "online aid." But I did use rosters that I found online for the dates.
Lou Gehrig played with Joe Dimaggio from '36-'39 Mickey Mantle played with Dimaggio in 1951 Bill Robinson played with Mickey Mantle from '67-'68 Mike Schmidt played with Bill Robinson in 1982 Darren Daulton played with Mike Schmidt from '83-'89 Curt Schillling played with Darren Daulton from '92-'96 Someone could try to figure out the Gehrig/Schilling one better than I did, or let's go with: Bob Uecker and BJ Upton

It does:
Cy Young played with Joe Wood for the 1908 Boston Red Sox Joe Wood played with Luke Sewell for the 1921 Cleveland Indians Luke Sewell played with Mike Tresh for the 1938 Chicago White Sox Mike Tresh played with Minnie Minoso for the 1949 Cleveland Indians Minnie Minoso played with Steve Trout for the 1980 Chicago White Sox Steve Trout played with Randy Johnson for the 1989 Seattle Mariners You can also take it through Hall of Famers Ted Williams, Early Wynn, and Bob Feller. I admit, I used The Oracle of Baseball for this. -Mikey |

We should also put a stipulation about not using Minoso. Especially considering he had a total of 10 at-bats from 1965 to 1980! Last edited by dylanmarsh; 09-03-2004 at 12:41 PM.. |
