Paula Radcliffe = Quitter
She stopped because he knew she wasnt good enough to win a medal, thats it. i felt for her on the marathon, but her 10,000 performance was just pathetic and she just shamed the nation. If I had to walk round tha track 10 times cos I had nothing left, I'd do it so I would finishy.... she just quit cos she knew she couldnt get a medal, absolutely pathetic!
Besides anything else, she is disrespecting the other athletes, her own country, and the fans. After the marathon I thought she really could redeem herself - whatever position she came she had to finish though, she wasnt hurt and she wasnt ill, she just quit cos she was losing, the mentality of any child - when she quit this time you could see she didnt need to stop, she just didnt have the heart to run a propper race. It's sad, but Paula Radcliffe = Quitter

I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt, especially in the case of world record-setting marathoners. She can handle pain I can only dream, so if she's giving up, I wonder if there's something else at work. I don't write off people who have shown themselves to be tougher than nails, repeatedly.

I wish people (mostly Aussies) would get off her back, morons on couches with cases of XXXX or VB probably don't have a clue what she was going through.

are you sure you're not confusing Paula Radcliffe with Sally Robbins? Radcliffe is some English runner, who has barely made the news here. Robbins is the controversial rower who 'collapsed' at the 1600m mark in the womens 8's final.

Geez I wish people would give Radcliffe a break. Its hard to run a marathon no matter how many times someone has done it. Its not just physical but also emotional and im sure that when she subconciesly started to think she wouldnt win, her body in response just started to quit.

I'm a stupid idiot.
Opinion RE: Lay Down Sally still remains valid, the bagging of olympic athletes drives me nuts sometimes.

ok.. shamed the nation was a bit much, but she did let herself down in the 10,000. I genuinely believed, in the marathon, she just couldnt go on, and it wasnt just because she knew she was out of the medals... no one can doubt her physical courage, this is the girl who once pushed herself so hard running when she was ill she lost her vision briefly... but she seemed to experience some sort of emotional and mental breakdown... in the 10,000 she said her leg muscles were tightening and she was worried about getting injured... I mean I cant speak on how she felt and only she will know in her heart if she could have gone on, or she just stopped cos she was off the pace... all I can say, is that if I was her, and I know Im not and I dont have the dedication or fitness to run at all in those conditions - but if I was her, in that sutuation, as long as I genuinely didnt get hurt, I would have walked round the track 9 times if I had to, no way would I not have finished that race if I was physically capable of it.
