Sven Goran Erikson
Well, he has survived, it seemed in doubt for a while.
First of all, like most sensible people, I can't understand why it has anything to do with his job if he sleeps with a secretary at the FA or not... and peopel can say he hasnt achieved so much as a manager, but I dont think he has done so badly either. England are not a top team, and we have always punched our weight under Sven, if he has not done better than expected, I think he has done a reasonable job with the players we have. Gerrad and Beckham were shown to be VERY ordinary in Euro 2004, especially Gerrad who was a disgrace - he was negoiating his contract rather than worrying about England... Erikson's fault is probably that he is too cautious, but he let Rooney play at the right time I think, and at the end of the day, we just dont have the players that the top sides do. And whatever he does, they cannot afford the £14 million it will cost to sack him, and no way is he going to walk!

I don't rate Sven as one of the top managers. His tactics seem to be:
1. Pick 11 players 2. Arrange them into generic 4-4-2 formation. 3. ??? 4. PROFIT! I think he will be gone after the next World Cup. Or even sooner if England don't qualify (somehow!).

England will qualify I think.
And look the the players Sven has... GK's - David James, Robert Greene Left Backs - Ashley Cole, Wayne Bridge Right Backs - Gary Neville, Phil Neville Centre Backs - Sol Campbell, Ledley King, Rio Ferdinand, Gareth Southgate, John Terry, Matty Upson Right Mid - David Beckham Centre Mid - Steven Gerrad, Nicky Butt, Frank Lampard, Owen Hargreaves, Scott Parker Left Mid - No one. Closest - Steve McManaman, Alan Thompson Strikers - Michael Owen, Wayne Rooney, Darius Vassell, Jermaine Defoe In that list is maybe 3/4 world class players, England just dont have the raw material to compete with the best teams, we dont have a flair player, we dont have a keeper, and at the moment we dont have a goal scorer. It's true that if Greece can win Euro 2004, we should be able to, but a lot of othe teams failed who have a lot more quality than we do. I think making the knock stages in Portugal was all that was expected of Sven, and we made it.

Greece won Euro 2004 because Rehagel's tactics were brilliantly executed, whereas Sven brought almost next to nothing to the table and expected to win games with raw talent.
Also, any England team with David James in goal has SERIOUS problems.

The story is pure tabloid tittilation for people with no life of their own to get their rocks off.
What they want to say, but can't, is how Sven was doing the big tittied secretary from behind while the other director was recieving a blow job, her silky soft hair brushing against his aching blue balls while his throbbing member filled her.... sorry, got a little sidetracked there.... P.R. agent, Max Clifford, knows how to spin a story in order to maximise his and his clients' profitability.

Apparently Sven is "a master in the art of love making"!

This story seems to be more for the press, than it is for the public.
The only public protest I saw on tv outside soho square was a dotty old woman, and a bloke in a union jack suit; hardly the passionate response that is associated with the national game! |
