College Football Coaches' Preseason Poll
1. Southern California (44) 12-1 (Record last year) 1,500 (Points) 2 (Last years final ranking)
2. Oklahoma (12) 12-2 1,426 3 3. LSU (5) 13-1 1,387 1 4. Georgia 11-3 1,328 6 5. Miami (Fla.) 11-2 1,246 5 6. Florida State 10-3 1,177 10 7. Michigan 10-3 1,128 7 8. Texas 10-3 1,087 11 9. Ohio State 11-2 1,030 4 10. Florida 8-5 691 25 11. West Virginia 8-5 684 NR 12. Iowa 10-3 642 8 13. Kansas State 11-4 639 13 14. Tennessee 10-3 598 16 15. California 8-6 566 NR 16. Clemson 9-4 503 22 17. Missouri 8-5 502 NR 18. Auburn 8-5 473 NR 19. Virginia 8-5 453 NR 20. Maryland 10-3 443 20 21. Utah 10-2 438 21 22. Wisconsin 7-6 248 NR 23. Minnesota 10-3 187 17 23. Purdue 9-4 187 19 25. Oregon 8-5 175 NR LSU gets no respect, faith drops in Ohio State after they lose a few key players. But some of the most noticable rankings are those of Florida and West Virginia. Florida has been slipping the past few years and a poor season has been rewarded with a nice big jump in the rankings. West Virginia on the other hand has always been a type of spoiler team, never getting much respect yet always seeming able to pull a big win out of their ass when they need it. Now they got the attention of the coaches, it will be interesting to see how they do. Wisconsin is the one I do not quite get. Wisconsin had the worst 2003 out of any team in the top 25, Anthony Davis is perpetually injured, and they lost their best receiver in Lee Evans. Meanwhile, they're ranked higher than Minnesota a team they lost to last year. |

Can't wait for football season. :o |
West Virginia that high is a joke. They are 9 ahead of a team that has blown them out four times in three years, including twice last year, AND who has a better team.
I think Maryland is fine where they are, as there are questions with the team, but to be that far behind WVU is stupid. |
ugh these rankings arent based on last years performace! The coaches put together who they think will be the best according to the rosters!

I expected to see Louisville in the 20-25 range, instead they come in at 31. Lots of power on offense, questionable defense. They've gotten some good press this summer. Should have a pretty easy time in CUSA, though I can't wait to see how they stack up against Miami. Should be a top team in the new Big East.

Someone else beat me to this thought, but I dare any of those "coaches" to name a single player on the Utah team they voted to be #21. Clearly, there are other people within their departments doing the voting for them.
